Death to well... everything.

Reducing the number of heat sinks is unfair to explorers. I don't care how you try to sugar-coat it. It just is.

We lose out because a minority of PvP-people are crying about the latest meta build. And I bet there are a lot more people using HSL's to minimize damage from close encounters with stars then there people using them for combat.

At the least I hope FD reduce the mass of an HSL to compensate for the lower ammo' count. It's only fair that explorers get some kind of recompense.

It punishing explorers is a bit overly dramatic. Explorers are heading out into the unknown so should take extra care not to crash into stats. As mentioned in the thread moaning about this it is very rare you come up against such scenarios where you NEED to drop a heat sink.

The other option would be not to take a ship that runs and gains heat really quickly when exploring. I used a DBX and only need the heat sink once.

It's a total lottery whether you'll drop into a system right between two close binary stars and heat up extra quickly.

Explorers out on long-time trips will almost certainly need the HSL's eventually.

Also, what's going to happen to those already out in the black?

It's really not going to effect them greatly. It's an exaggeration for looking for an excuse to moan.

I've hope they nerf them to heck and back. Seriously, I can't even bring myself to bother fighting players since it just seems to come down to who has more SCB's and HSL's.

If not, I could care less anyway, I'll just continue low wakeing away from other Cmdrs the second I see an SCB go off. --Momentai :3

I don't agree. Nerfing stuff is a real lazy way of not bothering to think of a countermeasure.

Well, they're also introducing "Immisive munitions" upgrade to multi-cannons in the Engineers update. The effect of which is once you tag a ship with Immisive munitions it is always target-able. No matter how much it tries to hide in stealth you can still see it.

That enough of a countermeasure for you?

I am more of a hypocrit, i fly this stealth FDL with 5 PA's. The PA's already create so much heat that i am forced to hop out of SR and back in, this happens when i am more or less really close to the target and can be seen anyway. The heatsinks on my ship are only used when i need to dump my heat if it is not safe to dump heat manually by leaving SR.

None the less you won't see any difference in people flying Stealth ships if this launched say... next week without engineers. As most decent stealth pilots dump their heat to save on emergency heatsinks. Once engineers drops however you will see a change in everything. I am honest when i say this nerf is completely pointless.

You will be able to get increased sensors, abmissive rounds, stealth armor, sensor scramblers, things that disable ships nearly instantly, new forms of out of SC interdiction, missiles that will more or less murder a stealth ship and so much more.

The HSL needs to be left alone it is going to be needed for so many things. I know with every nerf their are people like me saying "OH lordey NOO" but i am all for nerfs and buffs and a changing game. I just see that this nerf is targeted at stealth and it does nothing to it besides hurt the DBS and FAS slightly. The FDL will still be King of Stealth.

I use a Fer-De-Lance quite a bit. However, the prowess of the ship is its manuverabillity, speed, overall hardpoint versatillity / placement, and dps. Why go stealth? It suffers greatly when the hull is exposed and any Vette worth its salt has fighter wing support (no offence, Kharma). It seems silly to suggest that a nerf of Heatsinks is even needed. Boost Sensors or add a Sensor Relay package that boosts all nearby friendlies Sensor range and detection chance. Either way, safety in numbers for now I suppose. Even wolves hunt in packs...

Kinda glad it's taking the edge off the Shield meta.

Glad the FDL is getting a heat fix. As it was broken before. They might of batted to hard but I will try running a smaller power plant and see how my heat is. I've got power to spare currently.

Not sure about weapon heat but time will tell.

Losing one heat sink per mount won't affect explores. Its gonna hurt the shield tanks though.

This might be a good fix. But as it sits we are just guessing.

I wonder what % of players across all platforms engage in pvp on a regular basis? Frontier seem to base a lot of nerfs on said activity....In the end it really doesn't matter I will still play :p

Well according to the beta forums the fdl is getting it's heat management bashed with a sledgehammer, which imo is good since it's colder than exploration ships.
The size 2-3 upgraded engines can reach 600 m/s though, which is noice.

Too bad the Cobra 4s engines are class 4... guess you can still downgrade but not sure if it'll be worth it.

Saw a screenshot of an Imperial Eagle doing 600+...the implications of that, though. You'd be able to out-fly huge craft and tag them, fly out of range, then tag them again, over and over, and they'll never be able to keep up.

I've done 2.000 m/s in my Federal Dropship.. just saying.

Combat doesn't really work like that.. altough it might after 2.1 but I doubt it.

I -really- wish it did. Just to give people a reason to use small ships when they've reached Conda/Corvette/Cutter money. More balance between the difference sizes.

Of course I'm also looking at this from a PvE perspective because I wouldn't touch PvP with a 80k ly pole.
