Debris Field - President's Last Resting Place?

I was flying around Kui Hsien today, when I noticed a new nav point I could drop out on that I'd never seen in the game before: "Debris Field". Dropped out on it; the debris field itself is huge. Something big got blasted. And not just one thing, but several somethings. I definitely spotted fragments of Imperials Clippers amidst it all.

Got to admit I got pretty excited as I thought I might have just discovered the remains of Starship One.

Are Debris Fields a thing in the game now, or have I found something significant?!

Debris fields have been around for a little while now, I'm not sure what they spawn from though.

Honestly these should be leftovers from warzones/combat zones after a good CG but that's my opinion tho.

Nice find I've never run into one yet.

Dang. I've been exploring in deep space for the past week, only just got back, so I'd not seen one before. Also, I remember looking at that thread too but didn't connect it to the Debris Field thing. Ah well.

From what I could see there was nothing to do there, it seems just to serve as another bounty hunting site, where NPC pirates are preying on scavenger ships that show up.
