Newcomer / Intro Decided to ditch trading as a main!

Well I have sold my T6 after a NPC crashed into me again last night and loosing another 1mil credits feeling like its 1 step forward 2 steps back. But focusing now on my Cobra got a spare 3 mil so I am leaving my home system and travelling to Lave and then possibly go to the new Nimoy Memorial Station. Got very aware of getting in a grinding trap for the asp so decided to mix things up a little as long as I don't make a loss :p

Well done for noticing the grind, it can sneak up on you and you suddenly realise you have not had any E:Joy in days. If getting bored, do something else (hence my current trip to Sag A)
Cobra and Asp for the win !

Good idea to do something else for a bit. Getting to X MCR is not the be all and end all.

Some players seem to forget that.

If you want to spice up trading here are my advices:
1) Do it in open.
2) For a while, rare trading can be fun.
3) Explore your own trade routes. This is a lot of fun for me. The trade route i have now is about 2.8k cr per round trip and does not dry up so fast, and like others before, i found it myself.
4) Mix it up. Get a small fighter/explorer and whenever you feel that itch, get out your cannons and do some mayhem.

With wings coming up i am looking forward to employ some escort, or maybe do some escort work myself. Not that i really need it at the moment, but i guess it would be fun.

I usually do my own certain rare trade route. However, I begun with, and still do sometimes, use no route at all. I check the rares list and pick a station I havn't been to and go there, pick up rares, and then pick a new station from the list ~150 ly away. Never the same route twice. Scanning and exploring between the stops. Ok, it's not going to make you a millionaire soon, but it's a lot more fun if you need the cash relatively quick (to buy some fun gun or whatever).

Now days I only trade when I need something new/upgraded.

I actually played in open for a while trading but got annoyed being constantly interdicted by players who demanded my well earned credits in cargo one time narrowly escaping before almost being blown up so went solo for a bit. I am going back to open specially with this Wings update as it sounds like fun but I am not doing it in a helpless trade ship, I'm going in a ship that can defend itself well. :)

I've only played in open but have never been interdicted by a CMDR, only NPC:s. I don't know how you guys do it, have you pimped your ships with diamonds and bullseye painting?

I play open and it really has to do with where you are located. I am in a backwater of the empire about 300 ly from my start location and I never see a player. In fact the station traffic reports show only me.

Depending on what you are flying you can always add an interdicter and while fuel scooping scan and find some wanted NPC's then pull them out of supercruise and get some credits. It barely covers the cost of the ammunition but it breaks up the trading monotony. Also there are PVE groups that you can join like MOBIUS if you want to play with other people that are civilized and not going to jack your hard earned cargo.

Sadly, your credit grind just became 5 times worse without trading. As for the folks being interdicted by players, they are sat in high traffic areas, however, even then, interdiction by players is relatively rare.

oh I will always trade my Cobra has 36t hold or more cant remember but I am happy with that ship for now till I can afford the asp. So you can identify wanted players in SC how do you do that I dont want to be pulling out innocent players by accident.

On the left, where it shows you the name it also shows you their local law enforcement status. Once the scan that provides that information is complete, you can then look in the left UI pane and see how much their bounty is under the contacts tab.

Interdicting is a bit of a waste of time, in my experience. If you go to resource extraction sites, the pirates come to you. There's much more action.

Be careful in Lave. CMDR (redacted) has been ganking CMDR's in that system for a while now - there is a fight-back going on gathering pace to hunt him and has pals down but if you see a Clipper bearing down on you... JUMP :)
