Decisions. Scary Decisions..

Buy the python with its discount now.

Because you can always do what I did with my beloved Asp at first.... leave it in dock while you go earn some credits to outfit it/insure it with the Vulture.
Was a week before I could afford to take the Asp out for a spin, then I traded in the T6, and could afford cargo on the Asp... then a bigger FSD, then some guns, then some thrusters .. etc etc.

Now its the fire breathing ripsnorting Asp I've always dreamed of*

*Even if I've welded plates to the plates welded over the holes in the hull from a recent .... event ;)

Rare trading in a Python is a waste. Turn that 284T cargo bay loose on a good normal commodities route and you'll earn money faster.

It won't take very long to earn back enough to buy a new Viper.

Do it. I cashed in my fleet of starships and equipment (Hauler, Eagle, Viper, Cobra, Vulture, Asp, Imperial Clipper), to a sum total of 55 million credits, and picked up a Python a lot sooner than I'd considered being able to get one. With the money saved in the discount I had enough left to outfit it for trading and light combat, with just enough left over for the insurance and a full tank of hydrogen. What can I say, this game isn't as much fun unless I'm at constant risk of losing what I've earned and being forced to progress backwards (trade down to a cheaper ship) if I screw up one too many times and can't cover insurance.
