Ships Deck Plan for Ships

Greetings Commanders

As a (RL) engineering student and Elite lover I am much interested in how the ships of the game work in detail and how our current technology advances could eventually explain some of the game features and how to overcome some real life challenges.

Basic example: In order to achieve over light speed and according to the infamous Einstein formula E=MC2 all you proud commanders would be nothing more than a squish in the cockpit hence the ships must have some kind of a damper field (similar to star trek) that dampen the forces that the ship is exposed to (already) at a fraction of the speed of light.

In spite of the unknowns (like i.e. damping field equipment, mass generator etc.) I started a basic fantasy deck plan of an Anaconda class vessel about a year ago that in my eyes would explain how to overcome some of the difficulties (I thought starting with one of the bigger ships makes creating the smaller ones easier). What has begun as a more rudimentary MS Paint work has grown to a detailed 6 deck ship plan including explanation for the various installations aboard. This plan is far from complete and still bound to MS Paint limitations. I also couldn't use CAD as I simply don't have enough time (and the licence is sh** expensive!)

Now I know that this is probably solely my personal urge to explain the things I use in the game - nevertheless if there is someone who would be interested in having such a plan and/or shares my interests, please feel free to drop me a line.

best,

(after all I am Science Fiction and not a Fantasy fanboy)

I can confirm that RenderDoc can still extract assets used in ED and save them to a .csv file. In fact, RenderDoc can actually work in the main game and not just the loading screen, so it should be possible to capture other assets that you do not have access to (i.e. things that are not playable ships).

The issue(s) lie in that the assets are extracted as several separate entities (a Krait II comes out in about a dozen different pieces that each had to be saved to a separate .csv file), and I could not get the python script used in the video tutorial to work in Blender. I suspect that once you can get the python script to work, the other problem can be solved by putting the different pieces back together again.

Each ship has a compartment where it stores a Gandalf clone, he completes Space Magic to keep us safe as we fly up to superluminal velocities . Also will look forward to your dropping the deck blueprints in here for us to look over

And I thought the FSD used a mass quantum effect, explotting the uncertain location of the sub-particles that make up out ships to shift the mean reference location of the vessel.
Our faster than light speeds are achieved with minimal velocity and momentum - these are experienced due to imperfect FSD design.
