How about Deep Space 9 type stations. These could be halfway in size between, say, a Coriolis station and an outpost station.
All docking would be external as they do in Deep Space 9 which would allow the large craft to dock and trade. To that extent,
why not allow external docking on existing outpost stations. The art of docking in this way would add an extra element to
the gameplay plus more variation in types of space stations.
