Alternative to combat and murder death kill.
I'm really looking forward to the new changes to exploration and mining, it still feels however the bread and butter of the game is to fly fast - shoot straight and leave your 'enemies' scattered in space whilst you hoover up their goodies. For those of us who don't want to kill / murder shoot perhaps the following game adjustments will bring the balance back to a silent majority.
1: fighter hangers: in the 30th century instead of having ships that simply kill things would you not have other designs of vehicles that may assist in other activities. So scanning for asteroids (or a boost to scans) Or as another set of eyes and ears whilst you scan a system. These ships would be housed in the fighter bays and would be crewed with exploration/ miner type crews. as their experience builds so does your chance for rare rewards or interesting events. The designs of these ships would reflect their non combat purpose. Oh and you could release and dock this ship type in super cruise! no guns please we are doing science.
2. crew members who would assist in tasks onboard (like giving one extra pip to your scans for fissures, or a boost to your scans of a planet, or would chime in when you find an Earth Like world) Multi crew is great and is getting better, but what about assembling a crew to fly into the deep with you? everything is present for such a mechanic to be viable. Even the seats are present! why do they have to be empty?
3. No not an Asp, No Not a DBS, No not an anaconda, no no no to a Krait... but a true dedicated ship that has no (or maybe few hard points for guns) that is dedicated as an explorer vessel as a secondary it could add mining to its missions. With a class 8 FSD and scanning equipment built into where the big guns should go. It would have new onboard science bays that could fly into anomalies and get the data- which on return to the bubble could we worth millions since these have never been studied before. I just love the look of the mamba- and the chieftain but it simply doesn't feel right that in the universe of tomorrow we would be obsessed with mounting huge weapons on our foreheads and racing after each other and other alien species- just to kill. According to elite lore the first ships weren't combat- they were exploration. so where are they now? if you can build a mamba when a courier exists why wouldn't you build something the size of a cutter but with the jump range of an Asp to aim at the exploration market? We do not have a dedicated exploration ship in the game, neither would exploration be a solo activity - you would take a crew or go mad in the deep. Give us our own ship... just one...maybe with a nasel?
4. the Xeno-language expert, dedicated to learn the language of new species of aliens we encounter. the higher the contact the better the skills grow. Bring that data back to the bubble and sell it to the military? or perhaps use it to broker peace between humanity and the thargoids - the hawks have their guns the doves have science!
isn't it time to science the sh%t out of the universe instead of pew pew pewing all and sundry?
