Defection and PP exclusive modules/hardpoints?

So what happens when you defect, and want to upgrade to a new ship, can you take your earlier PP perk with you?

  1. I assume the PP perk is not a permanent unlock moving forwards in the game?
  2. I assume you cannot simply transfer the Princess Shield module or Nail Gun hardpoint from the old ship to the new ship or can you?
(I'm not at 4wks yet so cannot answer this one myself. Thanks in advance.)

Yes you can.

Just buy a couple of cheap ships and fill them with toys - i have a couple of Couriers loaded with Imperial Hammers for this exact purpose.

Once you have unpledged you can simply move the gear about as needed.

Have you tried it? Because I suspect that after you unpledge, if you sell a power-specific module you'll never see it again.

Well i havent tested this, but if selling PP modules/weapons is the same as normal modules/weapons they are retained for a short while in the station you sold them at, allowing you to change ship and rebuy them.

Sounds like a bit of divided opinion here... I guess no-one's actually defected yet then :D

I defected last night from Hudson to Larissa. I could still buy the Pacifier, even in a non-Hudson station. Of course I didn't though, the thing's useless.

There are 2 possibilities: 1. it was a bug and it will be fixed or b) once unlocked -> always unlocked feature.

There should be some kind of black market weapons dealer (E : Dbay?) in the game, where CMDRs could buy and sell their power-specific weapons directly to other CMDRs.
