Déjà vu... Federation Bounties

So if you're like me and have been playing for years, you'll know that the first crime and punishment system was Pilot's Federation bounties. So you could jump from system to system to system until you got one that you weren't wanted in, just so you could land and pay your fines without being attacked by the station and guards.

So, is this what they're adding back? One of the things I hated more than anything during the first few hours I played the game? There was no real explanation to anything back then, at all, so google told me to go to a resource extraction site and shoot ships to earn money. So I did. Only... I didn't know I had to wait for the scan thing to get done, and I didn't know this would make me wanted by police (because I was shooting unwanted ships). It was almost as bad as trying to get to the another system in supercruise............ almost..... (because frameshift was frameshift to me, ignorant of there being a difference- even the same button was used)

I just hope it won't be like this again. Not because it's too hard, especially with all the tools both in game and out to avoid certain systems, but too annoying. To me it'll serve as much purpose as nearly everything else... to take up time. IE- "on h-jump"

I agree. I didn't like it back then either. It's much better now. Having read what they are thinking of doing, it seems refined and better, not back to the bad stuff of the past. We'll just have to wait and see.

Not sure I totally agree. I quite like the undocumented experimental play style that needs to be adopted in new features. That is definitely part of the fun for me.

And then you start noticing how far the jurisdiction of a non-ruling minor faction extends from a coriolis.
You fly in somewhere and know from the look of the station interior what you can expect in the commodities market.
When the ATC controller tells you to watch for incoming traffic, you slow down and look instead of boosting out the slot.
When you're in witchspace you'll know whether the star you're about to arrive at is scoopable.
There'll be bodies you approach a certain way because you recognize the craters.
And you won't even be Elite.

Even this task will be trivial:

Stations don't attack the player for being wanted.
For the most part bounties can be ignored, the most significant aspect being you have to beat interdictions by BHers every 6-7 supercruise/hyperspace transitions, but as Frontier has made interdictions ridiculously easy to beat that's more of an annoyance than a real factor.
