DeLacy Logo in Python

This.

I owe DeLacy an apology. It took me almost 3 weeks to notice this logo in my python. I have to say, having seen this logo, and having seen it, having started to appreciate it's design, I really got into feeling how (put in a fitting word of your choosing) awesome this ship is.

Python for the win!

Havy any of you noticed any other endearing or impressive details of the python? :)

Haha, nice thread. I got used to looking for logo's after the Clipper's one.

Off topic talk about other ships:
Interior Lighting colours of Orca are pretty cool.

Sort of the opposite of what you want but if you undock, fly up a bit and try to look into the steps at the front of the landing gear the steps lead directly into a solid looking ceiling.
Once seen it cannot be unseen :)

Have any of you noticed any other endearing or impressive details of the python? :)

- It looks really good when it's blowing things up. :D
- It can dock at outposts.
- It's a nice all around ship, once it's kitted properly.
- It can dock at outposts.
- It's a sexy beast.
- Outposts!

Does everyone know it can land at outposts :)

I actually don't like the view from the cockpit. I only bought mine a couple of days ago and the offset view from the pilots seat was originally a bit disconcerting but I will get used to it. What I am having trouble getting used to is the overhead console / frame. When I am manoeuvring in a poorly lit RES, pitching up looking for the bad guy, sometimes the light shines on the overhead panel and it looks like I am about to smack into an asteroid which normally results in me attempting a barrel roll and a quick change of direction before I work out it is just the cockpit I am looking at. I will probably get used to it and I am loving that 208t of cargo :D
.
edit - I just noticed I am going to have to change my Avatar and my sig.

Don't worry about the avatar/sig. I haven't changed mine yet & I sold my poor Clipper for a shiny discounted Anaconda and Python during the Zaonce community goal. Still my fav ship at heart though :)

So, I am definitely looking to buy one of these beauties over the quite ugly FDL. I would like to equip it for PvP but so when I can't find anyone, some PvE too. Could I get and Idea of how many credits I will need before I can properly insure/outfit this? And another thought, how does this thing compare to the ASP for exploring? Any decent load outs for an explorer python? And how long assuming I play for casually about 7-10 hours a week and only on weekends Exploring and doing combat (I almost never trade but keep a type 6 around just in case) to get the python and fully upgrade it? Currently, I have about 18 mil into my Exploration fitted ASP, maybe 22 mil into my beloved vulture, and almost 7 mil credits? Currently I am out on an exploration trip across 1-2k light years scanning anything that is marked as "unexplored" so I expect to make a few mil off of that, but mostly just enjoying the view. So is it worth it to eventually sell my ASP and Vulture for the python? (I will keep my Viper because of nostalgia and my Type 6 for the odd trade run). I would only be willing to sell both my Vulture and ASP if it meant that I could do both exploration at least equal to the ASP and Combat better than the vulture, especially in PvP and I could switch between a combat load out and an exploration load out simply and (hopefully) cheaply while still getting a decent performance in PvP capability and jump range.

I apologize for the very long and poorly written post, but I am in a hurry and am also very excited for the Python-CMDR Kbear

You'll get used to it fairly quickly. I don't even notice it most days. :D

Depending on how you configure it, you can actually downgrade one class in shields and still be fine in a RES. My current setup lets me run 240 tons of cargo and still have both scanners and a scoop. Of course adding armor upgrades would lower that, but so far I haven't needed them.

ED Shipyard

I might need to wait until I upgrade my thrusters to see that. Right now it feels like a London Bus after the Asp. :)

It definitely performs better as it's upgraded. I'm loving mine now that it's almost finished with upgrades.

Your Asp will have roughly twice the jump range of a similar kitted Python and expect to pay upward of a 150M for a combat Python but around 70M for a trader that can defend yourself very well.

Nice looking boat. I only need another 70M to get mine to look like that. The first thing I am upgrading is to an A spec FSD then the thrusters are going to be hit with the 'upgrade stick'. I will probably end up getting a couple of large cannon, not because they perform better but because I like the sound they make when they smack into someone :D

Okokok. Firstly you need at least 75/80mil costs to get a trading Python + some for insurance.
You need at least 100mil for a combat, I've never made an exploring Python but I'd expect somewhere in between at 90mil.
Use the Ed shipyard or one of the other outfitting programs (link below)

Maybe is the answer to selling your other ships.. The maximum you can spend on a Python is about 340mil, without armour its about 200mil. ASP will always beat Python for exploration, view is much better too.
Python does heavy combat better than Vulture but isn't as manoeuvrable so you may miss throwing your ship around as much, its design is like a heavy tank thats fairly slow to move around but packs a punch whereas the Vulture is more a light tank style design thats fast and manoeuvrable yet still has some firepower..

Check the 1.3 update logs, selling modules may* cost 10% of the module cost, the same as when you sell ships currently. That makes it expensive to swap a combat build to anything else.

*Possibly not due to a few dev comments but its 50/50 at the moment

My end game Python for all PVE occasions, only change I would make going to PVP is to swap the heat sink launcher and kill warrant scanner for shield boosters.
If I went trading It'd go totally different but I don't have a build handy for that...

My recommendations: Keep the ASP in a 100% exploration loadout, keep the Vulture in a 100% combat loadout and buy the Python for trading. When you get the cash upgrade the Python for combat/exploration and you can then decide if you want to keep/sell the Vulture/ASP for your next purchase.
It keeps your options open and means you have good fallback ships should the worst happen.

Edit: I have flown this build minus the armour and it totally rocks for PVE and with the fuel scoop it can shift about the galaxy map quite well too.

Thanks for the response, I actually took a look at ED shipyard right before you posted and unfortunately saw that. Anyways, I guess I need a ship to fall back on anyways in case the worst happens. And I am in no way interested in trading. Well, after the whole Diamondback debacle, this is quite a disappointment. :( I guess I will have to look into one of the FDL's as I hear it is much cheaper to outfit, but I in no way want. The thing is, I want a ship capable of PvP (No, not the asp, I use it for exploration and exploration only) and that can hold it's own against CMDRS (no matter how maneuverable the vulture is, any CMDR how knows how to reverse will easily keep you in his sights). Any chance of this being a potentially "armed explorer"?

Edit: Thanks to Alex Brental as well, for the response. I may just follow that advice, but then it will take me much longer as even though I have a decent trade route, (1100cr/t one way, 500cr/t the other) I just can not stand the trade grind, so I suppose without selling the Vulture/Asp it will take quite a while, if ever to get the credits to buy the python, but I will work towards it if something more agile and capable of PvP than the vulture does not come out first. I consider agility my greatest asset in any fight, hopefully FD will release a high end ship, capable of PvP but that is more about maneuverability than sheilds/armor.

PvP you are realistically talking Vulture, Python, FDL, maybe Anaconda (with lots of turrets or in a wing).
Some people use Clippers but I personally dislike the hardpoint placement as much as I love the ship in most other ways.

My ultimate FDL build (personal opinion):
http://www.edshipyard.com/#/L=70O,7RK5Rr5Rr5Rr5Rr01Q01Q0Wg3we0_g0_g,327_886Q6u9Y6Q5A,7Sk7gy7gy4xo2UI

Again possibly remove heat sink and kill warrant scanner for PVP and put in shield boosters. tagline for this is power problems :)
Also again armour is expensive and can be removed.

Not flown this one yet but don't see any reason for problems with it.

Thanks :) But I think I will try to work towards a Python first, using your advice and see how I like it.

Good night, thank you to everyone who responded and I look forward to finally amassing the credits for a python/FDL-CMDR Kbear
