Delivery missions - find the cargo at unidentified signal sources

I have tried this three times now, spent hours searching the appropriate systems. Examined hundreds of unidentified signal sources, and have yet to find one that progressed the mission.

So I ask... what am In doing wrong? Whats the trick? Are these broken? Am I missing something? Or am I simply too stupid?

When I get close, I find all sorts of things at the unidentified signal sources. Encoded signals, which end up being nothing more than the location where a ship was blown to pieces and sometimes engineering components are left behind. Other places where an attack is in progress. Sometimes locations where convoys have left. But not one where I was able to pickup cargo and complete the mission.

Mission specific items will come up as a blue USS. When you arrive in the system, use your Discovery Scanner or Nav beacon to get a more specific location. Then the items you seek will turn up in that location when you arrive there.

Hope that helps.

I tried 2 of these kinds of missions. The first I was successful at and found the signal source. You will know when you find it because it stands out in a blue colour. You don't have to drop in to it to see if it's the right one or not. Also, when I tried it I had the locations updated on the transactions tab. As I said, one of these was successful and for the other one I flew around forever, not finding it. I don't know how far away the signal sources can be from the locations but I suspect it's a fair distance.

No quite the opposite, they are real close. You should fly close enough to the destination planet to see its exclusion zone.

Just put this in another thread:

To make this mission type even quicker and easier, get an advanced discovery scanner and ping it when you arrive in system. You won't even have to scan nav beacon then (but if you can't afford that scanning nav beacon will show the way).

Also, if you've got a bit of a weaker ship and get company, you can quickly scoop up one or two items and then high wake out before the NPC's start shooting, fly around a bit in the local area which point you'll find the target again, rinse and repeat.

DISCLAIMER: The first time I did this, even though I picked up four items in two target areas, the mission didn't recognise this and I had to abandon it. However, last night I had three NPC's in a wing on me and dropped into three seperate target areas to scoop 1, 2 and 1 tons of the required cargo and handed it in ok at the end.

Just to add - only happened once to me so far: In case you ram your actual target load and destroy it, drop out of the USS, fly around the planet and wait for it to spawn again. Mission cargo will then be available again for (hopefully) scooping up this time.
