Delivery Missions.

Recently had a couple of delivery missions where I made a rookie mistake. Took the missions while in a medium ship, then switched to my type 7 to pick up the cargo. Turned out both were on outposts and couldnt swap to a medium ship since none I have have enough cargo space to transfer it.
Had to dump one missions cargo to swap ships.
fixing the problem of not being able to complete one of the missions could be done in one of two ways I think.
1. allow a player to return the cargo to the source station to be picked up again later
2. Allow a player to buy the needed commodity and deliver those out of pocket.
I had noticed in station in the commodities market that the commodity in question was makrked “needed for mission” I assumed this meant I could but the needed amount to replace what I had dumped. But no dice.
allowing a player to do this would be nice since it would make shoo swaps while keeping your missions active possible.

Your dilemma certainly isn't a new one. The solution that was introduced, for this situation. was to add data to the mission text informing us of the size of the station, and it's distance from the system's entry point as part of the mission text.

In the future, be sure to note what type of station you will be visiting, before you take the mission.

Yeah it was definitely a noob mistake on my part. Just thinking that perhaps in that situation where that mistake is made perhaps being able to purchase out of pocket replacement goods or return the goods to the station so you can swap ships might be nice.

There an in-game feature that could have helped you before you accepted the mission. It the galaxy map you could have clicked the destination and buy the system data. If no info provided it best to assume it a small station unless you pick that mission in a large ship.

The mission info actually tells you to check this too...
