Deluxe needs more love

Deluxe is the least worth DLC, as it gives you only 3 animals at the price pf 12$.
I know it also has the official soundtrack and some wallpapers, but does anybody really care about those? In JWE Deluxe you got 5 dinos at the price of 11$, which is a little bit double the number of the dinosaurs included.
So my suggestion is this: add an animal related to the theme of the other packs to the Deluxe; it's not necessary that they are added all at the same update, it could be along the way of many updates, and of course these animals don't need a unique rig and unique animations, it could just be a reskin, or even just an extra exhibit animal in all fairness.
In case I wasn't clear, here's an example: they could add a Musk Ox representative of the Arctic Pack, an Andean bear representative of the South America Pack and so on.

Personally love the soundtrack and gaming soundtracks/music have become more popular, among gamers. Which also has to do with the quality - even some indie-games have a pretty solid pick. Pretty sure i'm not the only one, but for a few €/$ extra - i'll buy the songs as well.
3 animals, a good soundtrack - it's not a bad price if you like both.
Looking at some other games, seen digital supporter packs for 7-8 dollar, which has soundtrack/wallpapers/artwork/behind the scenes video. or just 8,99 for the music alone.

And a lot of people bought the deluxe version of the game, just to play the Beta.

Don't think they will update previous DLC like that, they'll just create new paid DLC. Can't remember a game that adds more (free) content to previous DLC.
Usually it's like: 'If you don't think it's worth the money, don't buy it or wait for a (big) discount'.

I do think they should've separated the Deluxe pack into digital/music content and in-game content, after a couple of months. (like 6,99 for the music/wallpapers and 4,99 for the 3 animals)

I don't really have a horse in this race since I got Deluxe just to be able to play the beta, but it just seems unfair to me. They already have the soundtrack as its own DLC, so the 3 animals should be available as a separate cheaper DLC too. Especially since those 3 are not included in the Premium Edition bundle.

It's also odd that the Soundtrack DLC and the Deluxe DLC are the same price (at least in the US). Doesn't seem like there's any reason to buy the soundtrack when you could get 3 animals on top for the same price.

Bought the deluxe version for the same reason. :D So I don't mind it at all but for newcomers the deluxe version looks a bit off.
It's only 1% difference from a Mosly positive rating, don't think it's a big deal for most players.

That being said, pre-order content is expensive to purchase and the deluxe content is somewhat near that area. Never liked that but it happens all the time.

I think the Deluxe could do with either some content or price tweaking. I like many others bought the deluxe edition before even the beta was released, just to have the chance to play it for two weeks, to whet my appetite and give me a good impression of what the game was going to be like. But even if there hadn't been beta access I would have likely bought it, but not so eagerly. The big animal to me was the Komodo Dragon.

Since there's no point with the beta selling point, I can definitely understand people waiting. Some people may not care about the soundtrack that much (though I love it). Some might not really be that interested in the animals, which at 3 is the lowest of all DLC. Seems like a price decrease would be more likely than adding content, given the offer isn't as shiny as it was 2 years ago.

Same here. Definately a great pick for the deluxe version.
Have to admit the pygmy hippo is a close second for me because the big hippo species require a lot of space, something i don't like.

Fair point, tbh don't see many permanent price changes when it comes to DLC. DLC can easily stay the same price for 10-15 years.
Looking at JWE and PC, that doesn't like an option either.

Deluxe edition was a let down for me. I bought it for the komodo dragon and then the model is.. not great. None of the animals have any sort of variation as far as i know. Really a shame.

I bought the deluxe edition on release day so I didn't get to play the beta (I was too late to the party) and my reasoning was because I basically want to have all the animals officially available in the game, and was really excited for all 3 additional animals. I knew I would love the game because I watched all the CCs when they were pumping out PZ content on the daily, and I knew what to expect. At the time, there were no DLCs yet so we had nothing to compare it to. Now that you mention it, it doesn't seem as appealing as it did back then. When you consider that a DLC costs about 2€ more and you get so much more content, then yeah, the deluxe edition pales in comparison.

I was lucky and I got a pack with a very good offer that included the base game + deluxe + arctic and South America DLCs (the only packs released to that date). I understand that if you only want the three animals, it's a bit expensive if you have to pay full price, but deluxe pack is not a normal dlc as its name says. It was a special product, like an extra for the base game. I'm glad that it's still available for people who are buying the game at this point and not only during beta time.

For me, it was all about wanting to have all the animals available in the game. I was too late for beta, I don't know that I've ever done anything with the soundtrack, and I didn't even know there were wallpapers until I read it here. But getting the animals is why I bought it, and I don't regret it for a minute. Even if I was just starting out today, I think I'd make the same decision to get all the available stuff.

I just had an idea on how to fix the deluxe pack.

These are the top most requested animals: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/new-20-essential-habitat-animals-meta-wishlist.582340/

Assuming we're getting a North American DLC, ignore the North American animals. That leaves capybara, leopard, Tasmanian devil, Przewalski's horse, and gibbon from the top ten.

It'd be awkward for Frontier to add the capybara, tasmanian devil, leopard, and gibbon because it could be argued they should have been in previous DLCs (South America, Australia, Africa, and Southeast Asia, respectively). As a result, these highly requested animals are unlikely to come to the game at all, which is unfortunate. BUT...

...add a few of those to Deluxe and boom the pack is worth $11.99 USD again. Plus it rewards those of us who have been playing since beta for having been deluxe Planet Zooers for so long.

That might be a nice thought but both a terrible deal for frontier and for us, as each of these animals could easily carry their own dlc, ergo without them the lifecicle of the game would be shortend even more

That makes sense under the assumption that these animals will be headlining their own DLCs in the future.

My assumption is that these animals will never get added to the game, having already been "passed over" so to speak when they had their chance. But I definitely hope that I'm wrong.

Then its time fir hoping my friend!
The support has been cobfirmed to last till summer 2022, leaving us with atleast 3, propaply 4 dlc.
Also, frontier is hiering new stuff, a weird move if you only plan on releasing stuff for the next buisness year.
I would bet that aslong as the dlc sell well that we still get them till atleast summer 2023

This seems unfounded, considering we've only had one non-regional DLC so far (the Aquatic pack) and it gave us 2 more species endemic to South America, which had already gotten a dedicated DLC release. There's no reason to assume we couldn't see the Tasmanian devil or the leopard or the Przewalski's horse in an endangered species pack, or the gibbon in an arboreal pack, or any of them in a fan favorites pack. It's also totally possible that we could end up having regions revisited in a second dedicated DLC - who's to say that a South American animal pack is 100% off the cards, besides Frontier? I'm not saying I expect it, but it seems silly to write off the most popular requests just because they got passed over once. Literally every animal being added as DLC has already been "passed over" once by not making it into the base game.

That said... yeah, the Deluxe pack was a tough pill to swallow. I was a relative latecomer to the game, only picking it up after the South American DLC had released. I bought the base game along with both DLC that were available at the time and the Deluxe expansion, because I'm a sucker and a completionist when it comes to stuff like this. But I had no interest in the non-animal content, and the other two animals seemed pretty clone-y even before buying the game, so I realized at the time that I was basically just paying a heavily inflated price for the Komodo dragon. I've since come to adore the pygmy hippo as well, but yeah... that's a really steep price for what realistically should've been sold separately from the music and screensavers. I don't think the answer is adding more content to an old add on is a reasonable move, but at the very least they should split it up into a separate purchase for any new prospective buyers' sakes.
