Derren Brown's Ghost Train is a dark ride reinvented for the 21st century featuring... you guessed it... Derren Brown!

Here's some information...

Not one to shirk controversy, Derren Brown has revealed that his next trick will be re-inventing the ghost train with a mix of virtual reality and grand illusion.

The mentalist has taken a break from TV to work with Thorpe Park on a new ride. Called (unsurprisingly) Ghost Train, the ride consists of a 20-metre long Victorian-style train carriage, suspended in mid air, three feet off the ground with iron chains.

It's taken three years and 1,000 people to make the ride, where the participants will have to wear VR headsets.

The ride will last for 13 minutes and is "not for the faint hearted". There are 12 different journeys that can be done with two different endings.

The headsets that are being used are of the HTC Vive variety, and the ride will open in Spring 2016. Magic.

Moments after we're led into the waiting room, the lights cut out. Then, out of seemingly nowhere, a hologram of Derren Brown flashes before our eyes, ranting about the meaning of fear. We're then directed to a large warehouse-style room with a rather impressive 20-metre long Victorian-style train carriage, suspended three feet off the ground with iron chains. But all is not as it seems.

And that's the theme of Thorpe Park's latest thrill ride: a modern, VR twist on an amusement park old timer - to disorientate the rider so that they begin to question their own reality. This first happens when you step inside the Victorian carriage and are confusingly greeted by the interior of a modern London Underground tube train.

It also happens the first time you get to wear the Vive VR headsets, which hang from the roof of the vehicle. We sit ourselves down, buckle up and strap on a device. Read more here.

The ride will open later this month (hopefully). It was originally going to open on the 6th of May, but it was pushed back to make sure the ride is absolutely perfect. Nothing worse than going on an unfinished ride, eh?

Thorpe Park have also been working hard to keep Slammer alive. They have been working with S&S Sansei and the ride can now go up and down faster, as well as being more reliable.
