Designer devs, will we ever see different seats in different crafts ?

Hello guys, I was asking myself this question when reading a comment on having the same seat in every spacecraft regardless of type/manufacturer/size and I'd love to get an actual answer on this, will we ever see different seat designs matching the different cockpits/spaceships ? Because right now it seems like the designers do a wonderful and very well done cockpit with every detail they can think off and then just paste the standard seat where the actual ones are supposed to be...

Now I can understand how time consuming it would be to animate every type of commands on each seat, to match the pilot's body to go with the form of the new designs (even though the pilots are kind of static at the moment so it might not be too much of an issue) but right now it really feels weird that the Sidewinder has the exact same seats as the ones in the Anaconda and the ones in the Gutamaya Imperial Clipper, the one that epitomises elegance of form.

It's especially painful to know that "enhanced" seat models are implemented in the world view of ships but not in your cockpit, cockpit that you spend the vast majority of your game in !

So that's my questions for you FD:

Is there a reason (that I didn't cite) why we can't have more than one model of seat in game ?
Is it something we can expect to know about in the near future ?

I Too am really concerned about seats. i might make a poll ... hmmm didnt FD Promise us 25 different seats at launch? im sure i read it in a newsletter somewhere or the DDF why you lie FD.

YOU SUCK I WANT COMPENSATION!

+1 to this!. Also, I had no idea that the concept seat do actually show in game from the ext view O_O. Salt. In wound. haha.

Joking aside though, more variety, the better. Similarly with the HUD and UI being the same in all ships. I could see it when they're produced by the same manufacturer, but different brands should have more unique elements to them. I disagree with the lore excuse that the Pilots Federation dictate the HUD and it is projected from from your suit/in your visor somehow. (correct me if I'm wrong, sure I read a dev/mod explain it like that before somewhere)

I can understand that there needs to be a certain amount of uniformity to the games UI, but it would do wonders to making the game feel more diverse, even at the very small "cost" of having to learn the layout of a new ships UI/HUD once you've bought a new one, instead of it sometimes feeling rather blandly similar.

From a shiny game view: moar!

From a realistic viewpoint: Not really. In real life most ejection seats are the same / look the same and made by a small group of companies.

But I should switch off my rational part of my brain. Eye candy is eye candy :)

I've wondered myself why all the seats are the same. I assume as a time thing, and that they will likely add more in the future. Same could be said for the hud too to be honest. But the seat we have looks very DeLacy, but certainly does not fit in the clipper. Doesn't even really fit in the Zorgon Peterson ships either. Eagle could use something a little more sleek too, mind. But the Cobra, the Sidewinder, suit the seat we have. Works in the Anaconda too, to a degree.

from a realistic viewpoint each manufacturer would have their own style of seat. do you see ford and ferrairi using the same seats? does a semi truck and and a sports car have the same seats? you have to remember these are space cars not airplanes. no company would be making ejection seats. I mean why would you have an ejection seat into outer space? that's pure suicide. even with a pressure suit on. you would be suspended in a vacuum. hundreds of light seconds away from anything. you would float away into nothingness and die from suffocation. you are more likely to die in a explosion on a comfortable seat not meant to do more than hold you there because there is no gravity. so why not make it look good?

Actually those ARE ejection seats... that's what the block on the back of the seat is.

But if you look at the concept art in the first post, you can see that it has an ejection system aswell, just done differently.

wow that's incredibly stupid. that wouldn't do any good 1,000s of ls away from a star port unless that thing is capable of warping (which is ridiculous). and why would you make ejection seats for space ships anyways? that's just dumb.

please E: D make seats. this is not a ww2 or star wars simulator. I hope not. this Is just incredibly lazy.

Personally, while different seats would be nice, I think it's something that could wait until we have walking around.

Why? You ask.

Because when you're in it flying the ship, most of the time the seat you're in is invisible. It's behind you so you only really see it when you look around.
