Community Event / Creation Desktop cockpit :)

While I have a full simpit project on hiatus, I have a bunch of stuff laying around as well as an older deskpit project so I figured Id set it up as I finally have my two additional monitors on the way to finalize my eyefinity!

Just thought id throw a picture up now and Ill put another up when I have the additional monitors!

Ive no movie showing it but at least a few pictures!

So here it is, my own little Commanders Corner, all setup and running! Never mind the cabling, im gonna get around to that some day but I need a few longer cables to be able to strip it all up nice and tidy!

The right and left controlpanels, these are designed with Falcon BMS and the f-16 in mind but all switches and buttons are wired through two 32input button boxes.
Im unsure so far how these will work with ED standalone or if I need to use a third party app such as vJoy or similar.

And here is the fourth auxillary monitor, a cheap brand with horrible quality and viewer angel but all its intended for is extracting instruments from FalconBMS and DCS.
THe neat part is that with both those games, the actual MFD screens visible ingame can be extracted to fit these thrustmaster mfd replicas making it look and work pretty much as the real deal! :D
For ED, and other games, I can or course just create an image of whatever graphics i wish and drag/resize it inside the MFDs and thus I can have all the buttons labeled.

So this is where ill spend my winter, hopefully with alot of ED, as I continue (hopefully) the simpit build I began last year. Cant believe its been a year…Time sure passes by fast.

nice setup!

I'm wondering what size screens you use, are those 24" 1080p screens? I'm planning to use three screens for my sim pit but I cannot decide on the screens yet.

Yes sir, 24" 1080p of mediocre model. (with a complete garbage 4th monitor of 18" i believe, managing a whooping 1600x900 with alot of flimmering!)
I went with 24s as it was not even a decision costwise, since I had one of these previously purchasing two additional was fairly cheap as opposed to purchasing three new ones had I wished to go bigger.
These work really well and it really adds a whole new level to any game supporting it!

That said, bigger is of course always better. My advice would be to go for as big monitors as you can justify, both costwise and spacewise.

My budget is tight, so i may do one step at a time with just one cheap screen until i know if the simpit is a here to stay or not. As lot of cash went into the seat and the electronics already. Next would be a faster computer to support the 3 screens in the first place haha

Yeah, its not a cheap hobby! Then again, no good hobbies are!

Ive acumulated much of what I have in form of hardware over several years, though the new rig i bought last winter was kind of on the expensive side. But I spend enough time gaming to justify the purchase.
But one screen is all you need tbh, the rest is just a bonus :)

Heres one more pic showing the aux monitor in action with functioning MFDs extracted from Falcon BMS!
Also extracted is the Radar Warning Receiver and Data entry display, the fault display is also there but not visible in the picture!
