despicaple ambush

Today I was driving 40 jumps per side to get meta alloy. Yes, 1 piece. And that was all I was carrying. Getting to that engineer. My error, playing in open as I have barely ever seen other players AND never been killed. At system, 1 minute away from getting to engineer and a commander appears and kills me. 80 jumps worth of cartograph and that meta alloy lost.

I dont mind pvp. But ambushing system where you know ppl have come long way. That's just low.

Well lesson was learned. I will not play open anymore. Have fun playing yourself and shrinking the galaxy to even more empty.

Yep, open stays healthier without people who get angry about losing virtual assets anyways :)
So every so often you open a new thread requesting to delete mode alone. Because you are angry to see that only the same commanders can find ... and others say goodbye

If that's your take away, you learned the wrong lesson.

The lesson you should have learned was to watch your six, check for hollow triangles, and don't fly a paper ship in open.

It's Deciat. They should have a flashing warning label that pops up when you start to jump. WARNING: YOU WILL LIKELY GET ATTACKED! HIWAKE > ALL.

To the OP: If you play in Open, try to learn which are the novel hot spots in the game and plan accordingly. Always have a back up plan for these areas, and always keep your head on a swivel. When you learn to do that, you'll find sometimes these hot spots can be quite exhilarating.

Low? That kind'a depends on one's point of view (POV). From a macro/societal POV - yeah - it is low. It's criminal. It's called piracy if the guy took the time to scoop up that meta alloy. It's called murder otherwise.

On the other hand and looking at it from the POV of the malefactor it isn't low at all. In fact his choice to ambush in systems where ships must go to do a unique form of business represents both efficiency and pragmatism and indicates not a little intelligence and fore thought on his part. To him it isn't just a smart choice it is for all practical purposes his only choice.

After all - he has kids and he doesn't want them to go hungry tonight.

Well, I hope his kids choke on that meta alloy this night.
