Destiny 2 open beta august 29-31

Considering what Destiny became compared to what they SAID it would be I'll wait for the full release review.

so true. I pre-order only FromSoftware games and occasionally JRPGs, which are part of series. The usual "AAA" titles miserably fail to deliver at times what's promised (and some all the time)...

If anyone plays, please let me know if it screams "repetition" as loudly as Destiny 1 has done for the latter half of its life.

Sure, that's my biggest concern as well, but I doubt we'll be able to spot it in the Demo. I couldn't stand how even the narrator's voice and opening/closing sequences were copy-pasted from campaign to end-game missions...unbelievable. After playing and studying Halo universe so much through the years, Destiny 1 was [woah][mad]
Let's see if they improved..

edit: after 60min mindless shooting - weapons with almost 0 recoil..same story, same graphics, same gameplay if you ask me.

Just uninstalled the beta, to me it's another run and gun, would like to know how the story unfolds but not going to pay 60 euros for the base game to find out.

Also did a bit of the MP which felt for me was a let down due to the jumping, falling, respawning miles away only to miss that jump again and rinse and repeat, that and it feeling like just any other FPS albeit with its own special gimmicks.

I was watching Hat Films play it on stream the other night. I didn't really pay much attention to Destiny but from what I saw it looked like more of the same, along with the obligatory boss Pinata at the end.

Good thing they gave us open beta, I never played Destiny 1 and from what I experience here with D2 beta this is not my cup of tea at all. Also apparently Bungie has already nerfed some platforming puzzle because "professional" gaming "journalists" cried it was "too hard".. are you kidding me? I`m terrible TERRIBLE at platforming and I did those turbines moments with no issue. Mainstream gaming if heading down the toilet I tell ya, like for real. [down]
But I`m sure "opening cases" is amazing and every twitch streamer will enjoy it...

Isnt that what happened with ED?

I got my fix with quake and doom.

Remember at one point Text adventure and anything I could typ from mag was the state of play.

There is no team work on these random game encounters.

whatr happened to CQC that could have bee a esport.

Game journo know ....

My only foray into this type of game has been The Division. Initially loved it but the loot grinding eventually wore away at my soul to such an extent that even the thought of booting it up gives me shudders.

Not my thing.

These sorts of games are based on the Borderlands series which in my opinion does it better than any of the rest that it spawned. Borderlands is good old throwaway fun. These games seem to suck that through a garden hose and fart it out with all the olfactory charm of Grimsby Docks in high summer.

I guess they try to capture players for longer time. I'm not sure if designers identified excessive loot grind as deterrent to play already. Usually, there is the microbucks motivation by bigco publishers, but then I look at ED and that reason doesn't work anymore.

There's one common thing between all those modern games - lack of content gets hidden behind loot, rng, daily strikes, whatever word comes to your mind. It works however, as it seems majority of gamers have forgotten the words of a crazy man.. he did in fact tell us the definition of insanity back then..

I just got back into playing The Division for a bit and paid the £12 or whatever it was for the Underground DLC. Essentially they are random missions, set in the underground, scaled to equipment level with the ability to tweak the difficulty by turning things on like not having a radar etc.

I suspect I've just played some elements of Destiny 2 right there.
