Destroyed at Gold Terminal Teleut

So I have hit launch and while being transported to the landing bay I check out the galaxy map to set up a route.

When I return to the main screen I am just in time to witness my destruction by the station.

What might have caused this? I had just paid a fine, I had some illegal stuff on board (trade route info).

Cheers

Ian

After you decide to launch you have to leave the station within 5 minutes. If you were plotting routes and what not you probably didn't realize this and got destroyed for loitering/failure to leave premises.

Wait, so you hit "launch" and you went to check out a route? How long did it take you? If you have a HOTAS or any joystick with a throttle, and you don't zero your throttle when you launch, you'll be catapulted backward into a stanchion.

There used to be an issue where sometimes your ship blew up on launch pad and I thought they fixed it, guess not, send a ticket and they will give you your insurance money back and try to fix it, at least it is less common now.

What I've found is, stay online long enough in a system and lots of NPC ships get blown up by station turrets, inside and outside the station. While you're docked, you don't "collide" with debris. But once you launch, you can be literally covered in debris which saps your shields quickly. My Clipper went from full shields to none in a few seconds once,, luckily I wasn't plotting though.

A docking computer gets you safely into the station. It doesn't get you safely out of the station. You actually have to pilot your ship as soon as you launch.

If, due to glitches in your controls, or because you haven't zeroed your thrusters, you stray onto another docking pad, you have to take immediate corrective action, otherwise you'll be vaporized.

You have to command to be a commander.

Oh, and a couple of pro-tips:
  1. Always do your navigation before launching.
  2. If you are anywhere except an outpost, always return to the surface first before separately selecting launch. After you get to the surface, you may not like the mayhem you see, or the anaconda that' hovering over you, and choose to wait a few seconds to let things settle before launching.

Live and learn.

<Insert rude word here>, I always do plot routes while the ramp is getting me started and never had issues. Today I got scanned while the ramp moved me (!). There are never scans inside a station! Got fined without anything to do, because I always carry illegal goods. Sometimes they just seem to go nuts.

Thanks guys, probably had not centered the HOTAS properly. Lesson learned I guess. I was not in the route setting long enough to time out and 'normally' have enough time while the lift sets me up...
