Destroyed by NPC jamming me in letterbox

I just upgraded to Type7 - making sure I had enough for insurance...
then was killed by a player taking all my insurance money...

I ran the risk and jumped in solo and took extra care leaving the dock to get enough to cover insurance.

Then a NPC large ship rammed me in the back while I was leaving dock... jamming him and myself in the letter box.
I was unable to move in any direction and boost did nothing.
Once timer ended dock destroyed us both. 80k over maximum loan to get ship back.

Countless hours in this game slowly working up all gone... Not motivated to start over.... So I guess I lost.

If you had enough to cover insurance you would not be posting now would you. We've all been there, just learned to make sure you can defiantly cover your insurance next time.

If u are jammed in the letterbox, log out and back into the game.

Pretty simple.

Also you need to be a bit better at situational awareness - watch the radar when entering and leaving. Having said that, I do understand how you can get caught out like that. It's one thing to watch in front but sometimes we pay less attention to our rear - so to speak!

I thought about this situation just yesterday and the only "safe" approach I figured out was, as soon as I do not have enough money to cover my current ship (for example because I had to rebuy it recently enough times to waste all my cash), I have to sell it for cheaper one and first get the insurance back, then rebuy the ship. Otherwise, leaving without insurance, always asks for accidents like this.

Maybe a silly question,,, what happens if you have multiple ships and can't pay for insurance? Do you "lose it all", including those stored ships?

I have a viper and a Type 6 at the moment, am saving to get my old Cobra back for a multi-purpose fit and then an Asp for exploration,, so even if I fly without insurance I'll still have plenty of fallbacks if I only lose the ship I was flying. If you're throwing 20 million into a single investment which will make you "lose it all" if things go south, well,, you decided to play it high-stakes...

If you can not cover the insurance, either buy cheaper ship and earn some money with it before getting back to bigger ship, or sell some useless components from ship to make sure you can cover the cost. 80k short of type 7 insurance means you'd have been able to buy decently kitted cobra to do some money.

Also, next time station timer is running and you can not escape, just keep calm, look for reasonable escape chances and log out if nothing else can be done.

Also, grinding the money is faster at second go, now you know how to make it most efficiently. Or just lower your expectations, and be happy with Cobra.
