Destroyed by orbital station... why?

I was hoping somebody could explain what I did wrong just now.
I took off from my starting station... Bosch and supercruised on over to another planet in the system, Bohm.
When I got there... I was flying around the space station trying to find where the entrance was to dock. Suddenly
I got a message from security saying "See you in hell, freebooter". Nothing happened right at first, but then
as I flew closer to the station it opened fire on me and I was destroyed within seconds.

I had a clean record, and never fired a shot or anything. I didn't even have hardpoints deployed... i'm still very new.
Can anybody explain why this happened?

A lot of possibilities:

1) Bugged(some people have said they've gotten wanted status/fines for no obvious reason)
2) the faction is hostile to you(any red contacts on the radar?)
3) carrying something illegal?

Without shooting, that's about the extent of reasons I can think of ...

I had an empty cargo bay... and i've been to this station before (though I died while docking but that was just because i'm a newbie and suck at docking). So, I don't think it's a faction issue... I am honestly confused as to what could have happened.

I just noticed that i suddenly have a dormant 1500 CR bounty on me from the faction there... but i didn't do anything, i shouldn't have that bounty.

I crash ones in gamma entering a station super fast cause I was carrying iligal stuff, they never finish the scan cause I was flying ghost but I crash. When I load back to the game I got a fine of 17k, outch. I think it was cause of the crash. So maybe that was your situation.

Don't crash any more ;)

It could possibly be that you were loitering too long and your docking request (if you made one) expired and the station didn't take kindly to you sniffing around.
Though it would have given you an on-screen warning of you loitering.

If you didn't pay the dormant fine/bounty for that, it might have caused this issue :)

I think i takes 24h for the dormant ones to become active, atleast that's how it worked in the earlier betas.
