Newcomer / Intro detailed Scan using upgraded xeno scanner

this is probably something I should know...... but I could not figure it out. perhaps one suited for the newer player forum.

with my old xeno scanner I had the scan to afire group and it would come up with ready for detailed Scan or something similar after getting the 1st scan which showed a thargoids shield status and what not .

I was never ever able to get it to do a detailed Scan...... is there another binding I need?

I have just fitted the upgraded one but can't get to pc to test yet but if I can't figure out how to do the detailed Scan off the old one I guess I may struggle with the new one too.

The old scanner needed you to get within 500 metres of the Thargoid and keep it in front of you for the seeming eternity the scan took all while not getting killed.
The new scanner has all the same restrictions except that you now only have to be within 2000 metres.

Not tried the new scanner yet myself but have failed with the short ranged original many times.

Yes. It’s functionally identical, with a 2000m range and slightly higher power draw. And they operate identically regarding assigning it to a fire group, getting in range, and conducting the scan. There may be other differences but nothing significant.
