Detailed Surface Scanner - BUG

According to the voice and the screen this planet / moon should be mapped by 79%. Seems its marked as only 21%.

Ive just taken my imperial eagle to Deciat to get it upgraded, I love flying it. The DSS was upgraded to lvl 3 and I thought I would test it out on the way home. Then I get this happen. Ive scanned hundreds of bodies and not seen this before.

Anyone have any clue as to why this is happening, the percantage covering graphiuc display is way out, if anything I would say the coloured part is whats left oout rather than scanned.

Right, 21% looks accurate based on the size of the probe's radius. Therefore it appears the percentage in the lower left is exactly the amount un-scanned at this point. Strange. And something isn't right because I think G3 radius would be enough to get way more than the small radius shown here. Two-probe efficiency target planets are small.

Following with interest.

No, I was travelling 30K/sec SC on min throttle. Approached to the radius fills the orange target sight. This was the fouth body in the system this happened to. So yes the radius and filled in area is inverted.

Ive completely removed the gamne from the drive and redownloaded it all, clean install, still the same

I'm not a big explorer but like most players have still done a lot of it. Never saw this. Just to rule it out or to identify as the culprit, maybe try another DSS?

I am also down to straws now.

I have 9 ships, 8 DSS some clean some boosted. I have tried all of them with the same result. Seems we both have the same idea.

The whole launcher file was uninstalled, deled, redownloaded and installed on a different drive, just in case. Short of reformatting the entire system this is the last viable solution.

I know that the screen count and the image dont match and all the DSS I have which are built into ships not able to be bought.

I thought I noticed this happening a couple (?) of weeks ago, but thought nothing of it and just carried on. From what was seeing the 79% was the accurate number.

If there was a new patch it got installed with the new install. As for a genuine bug, ive done all the testing I can do on it. Now I guess it need to be pointed out to FSD

Just noticed this thread - for me, that seems to be an issue with small (2 probes) bodies. ISTR something similar in those cases (still looking for a body I can DSS with one probe), but never considerd it worth writing a bug report for.
Will be out again with CCC after the 14th, I'll keep an eye open.

Its been reported to FSD and is being looked into. So take your time it will probably be resolved by the time your back. For me its an issue, if its wrong on some bodies, its likely an issue on all bodies.
As for a bug report, I would say that if you scan 79% of a body and it only shows 21% scanned then that is as uch of a bug as the Americans using Metres instead of yards on their Mars probe, little less catastrophic but its definitely a bug.
Its a fault with the DSS routine capsule. Seeing as the error occurs in the event of the DSS usage. Once a body is scanned it shows 100%

Im pretty sure these days Mr Baben isnt doing much hands on and has a team to sort it out. I thought once it was out there, that others would be having the same issue. Ive shot enough probes at bodies to realise its not just the small body percentages the problem is with. all of them dont seem to be remotely right. The math for the probe seems about right for the percentage figure, nut the displayed coverage is off. Its with FSD now so we will see if anything gets sorted out.
