Hey guys,

How profitable is having a detailed surface scanner? Because I am close to getting one and am wondering whether it would be better off getting that one or upgrading my BDS later.

How profitable is having a detailed surface scanner? Because I am close to getting one and am wondering whether it would be better off getting that one or upgrading my BDS later.

The only time a Detailed surface scanner becomes profitable is when it comes to Gas Giants and Water based planets. It will add a bigger chunk to the system payout then if you did not have a detailed scanner. On any other planets it does add a bit more profit however it doesn't offer a lot.

Try it, if it doesn't work out for you ..you can always sell it back for the 250k you spent on it, I swap DSS in and out quite a bit, depending on if I am in a 'go for a wander groove' or not
