But you do need to enable javascript for twitter nowadays (legacy twitter is no more). So no twitter for me as I block it in "noscript".

I am 100% entirely behind anybody who doesn't want to look at twitter, or the forums, or do anything at all they don't fancy doing.

People have been predicting the death of twitter since the day it launched.

Can totally agree - it's extremely annoying.
I come to the forum for game news, see there's nothing new, then I'll see a FB/Twitter post (Usually a whole day later!!!), and feel I missed out because there was some news/something new!

As the "official" game forum (im saying official because it's hosted by Frontier), this should be the first place any news is posted (I would expect the FB/Twitter post to be a screenshot of the foum post)!

The forums are an echo chamber for Elite players. Taking pitchforks to Twitter makes it public to anyone with a Twitter account which also = POTENTIAL player visibility.

When it comes to it, more players use twitter and Facebook than go on here regularly. It makes sense to drop the news on there first, but also a "check out our twitter feed" link in news and updates.

OP is quite correct the forums should be the first place for server/game information not some other social media drivel.

Don't have twitter or Facebook so shouldn't be forced onto those platforms for Elite information.
