Development...

Guys. And Gals.

What's going on here? It's nice that frontier give us the Powerplay update and all... A lot of effort went into it.

But what gives? Why can't you concentrate on the games basic mechanics first? Mining, Exploration - Piracy? I want to shout "There be unknown lands!" NOT "There be politicians!"

I want to say to myself "Damn! Look at this planet I've just found! It's got lots of oceans! It has a strong full range metallic signature! It's soil is prime for growing crops on! They don't have traffic lights! - roundabouts instead! And their toilets all function in a similar manner and the seats stay up! - Im getting my butt back to inhabited space! wait till they get a load of this!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!)

Not "QEW XXEB 153 A". And that's it.

The reality of a game like Elite is not based around politics. It's based around expansion. In such a "Dark" galaxy that FD have created, Expansion will mean everything. Resources-power-getting away from it all topics at stake here. The game should operate around that principal. Finely detailed exploration should be rewarded, and be given priority No: 1. The powerplay update isn't a bad thing, but guys... We WANT TO SEE STUFF!

We all worry enough about politics in day to day life...

marbor, I like. I have just mentioned that new systems have to develop etc in an other post. Start with the mining and take each moon, planet and system from there. Can't be that hard, for a CG.

It is a Logical step. As to the politics, well in another 1000 years, what will we care about who's in power. However, little ventures like this, need funding. So you have to keep the powerful/money, on side. So all hail the new Empress. as she will provide the funds.

Arry.

It's a business decision. To distinguish Elite from other products. To cater for a broader range of potential customers. To make Elite more attractive to prospective buyers, many of whom have been holding out from purchase because of perceived lack of diversity and depth of content. You and I may have made different decisions, but we're not holding the purse strings. :)
