Devs, Can we get a definitive answer on Multiplayer?

I could go through this forum ... multiple threads... different discussions... dating back to when the game came out of early access

Developers have been asked about the possibility of Multiplayer or Co-Op over and over and over with no yes or no answer.

Is it too much to tell us "No it will never happen" or "Yes, we're working on it" ....

You'd think one of the most suggested and asked for features of the game would be addressed at some point... but it's almost 2 years now and there still hasn't been any word on it.

Please.... just give it to us straight.

Thanks

What if they don't know either way? Until it's on the verge of being added in-game or the game's development ceases you may be waiting a while for a definitive confirmation. And I wouldn't put it down as one of the most requested features to be honest.

THIS! This is what we need more of.... clear communication between the community and the Devs.

Whether its an answer we want or dont want, Its still an answer! Thats all a lot of us care about. Communication is good, and I think if the Devs show us more of what they are working on, the community can give feedback to make each update better, and what the community wants. Thats what most of us on here want!

This one is easy as this has been spoken out many times that the game will not support Multiplayer in the near future.

It's the only question they have done that btw. The weather topic will probably receive no answer or they keep it in the grey.

Which might mean that they have ruled out multiplayer 100% ... So if they disconfirm items that are 100% NOT going to be there, then it might mean its not 100% sure we will NOT get weather [tongue]

but but coaster builder ;(

I thought it was pretty obvious that multiplayer would be the last thing on the list.

But it's good to see replies like this.

That's not the reply I was looking to hear, but thank you for at least answering the question.

Here's hoping you guys brain storm how to add this as a feature at some point in the future.
Co-Op building with this platform would be too awesome not to have.

Thanks again.

I think everyone has a different view of what multiplayer exactly will be like. I always imagined it as like this...

No multiplayer building but more like multiplayer enjoying! For example the earth-globe in Planet Coasters opening screen. I would click on a desired creator and then a list of his or her's available parks. In which you can see how many players are wandering in this park for example 6 people. I would enter it, no superman mode, but just walking no flying mode. I would enter the park and type in the chat box, hey hello everyone i'm here captainjelle. And i would be greeted by everyone and say i have to run to this attraction or that. Were they're all chatting visible with thought clouds and such. This kind of interaction i would love so much. More like a social happening. Omg i'm out of words but i hope everyone understands what i'm saying. I hope the devs would give a definitive answer on this one....

I would say based on the existing issues that need resolving first weather would make things harder as a whole especially with fps so agree can not see weather being done.

They are better off keeping with special effects for weather which is the next best thing so have small to very big units that can offer rain/snow and have an adjuster bar or random for sizes of droplets etc.

What would multiplayer even mean in the realm of a park management game?
check out openrct2 https://forums.planetcoaster.com/sh...with-OpenGL-graphics-and-lighting-improvement

Two parks duking it out?
the original Theme Park game from 1994 had a scoreboard system that ranked you with other competing parks (though that game was really simple). RCT has different reward systems that would say best/worst park/scenery etc, and there was also a "high score" list for each scenario. Even though we know PC will probably not get multiplayer, a high score list for scenarios would be nice

A game doesn't have to be multiplayer or co-op in order to be great. Single player games can still make amazing great games.

What I love about Planet Coaster is the ideas the game has, the beautiful graphics, and the building tools are real easy too including the UI. Granted if you want to build objects and parks like some big popular Youtubers, it can get a bit technical with placing objects in a specific fashion to your pleasing.

I've had Planet Coaster since it was in Alpha, in April last year. It's one of my most favorite games.

People won't stop playing a game just because it's single player. Take for instance The Sims 4 from EA. Millions of people play that, and it's only single player.

You can still download user created content off Steam and share your art work and parks on Steam too.

Depends on the game. If I'm playing a story driven game than I prefer single player, but PC is not a story driven game, its a community driven game. The main way for me to experience other peoples creations is by watching videos on youtube, but it would be a much more fun experience if I could join somebodys game.

There could be a few different ways to go about it:
- you could host a game for people to spectate only (like they get to watch you build, or walk round your park in 1st person)
- you could host a game to allow others to build in your park (like OpenRCT2)
- you could set the game to private and just play with a friend and you could work together on things
- it would be really cool if we could drive the go karts with a friend, or bring back the buggy mobile from rct3!
- its not like multiplayer would hurt this game, you would still have all your previous saves nobody can "ruin your park"
- even if we cant have co-op building mode, I think a lot of people would enjoy riding coasters together online!
- adding Multiplayer doesnt mean that the single player would be removed
