Roller Coasters Diamond Heights Recreation

I thought it would be fun to try and build Diamond Heights from the original Roller Coaster Tycoon in Planet Coaster as realistically as possible. I realize there isn't yet a Schwarzkopf looper in the game, which may never come, but I wanted to try it out anyways. I decided after finding out Windows 10 had a video recording function to record the construction in a timelapse.

Enjoy

Might not be the same coaster-type but you sure made it recognizable for anyone who played the first game a lot. Well done!

This might have been my favourite scenario in RCT1, really cool to see!

Same, Its the very first thing you see when you load RCT1, and you build up a bit of excitement wanting to unlock that park (or play, I can't remember if it was already unlocked) and the dueling coasters too! :D

Thanks, glad to know I captured the feeling of the original!

I really look forward to seeing this!
Thanks!

This is what I want to know based on the video -- did you build that from memory? Lol.
Yes, I did. [tongue] The funny thing is that I had to look at real Schwarzkopf coasters to base the transitions and track design on instead of at the original two coasters.

Really cool build! (childhood flashbacks included [haha] )
Thank you! I've had some fond memories of this park as a child as well.

Thanks! Yeah, it was my favorite scenario too. So much so that I've attempted to recreate it twice in RCT3, and once in NL2.

So, I realized when building the paths around the latter half of the coasters that I built them really close to the edge of the map. Too close for me to do what I want in that area, so I opened up a fresh map and took the opportunity to get a layout that was even more accurate to the original (and far enough away from the park border). There are still a few issues with pacing towards the end, but from my experience in building these two that problem cannot be solved.

The timelapses will now carry on as they were going to from this park file rather than the first. I hope this wont be too much of an issue.

I built the beginning of the ride plaza for the duelers. Instead of going with that cartoony style look I had from my Flightmare recreation, I'm building this park with more of a rustic theme like I tried to in my RCT3 version. There are even some callbacks to that version of the park in the station building.

I also built a transfer track. Since Schwarzkopf never actually made a dueling coaster, I took some artistic licence with the mechanical bit. There is however a problem that I can't seem to get around, that being the path supports which come into the middle of the track. This needs to happen otherwise the path would be unsupported, but with it the transfer track would bump into the posts.

Good memories. I remember that the black coaster would occasionally crash for no apparent reason and I never worked out why (not due to 'station brakes failure').

Yeah, I have really great memories with this park. I've never heard of either of them crashing for anything other than a brake failure though.

Turns out the rustic theme works pretty well right now.

I tried out a new technique for a corrugated roof on these two buildings. I really like how these came out.

The bathrooms are just tucked way in a little corner. I really wish there was a better sign (one without a skull) but I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

I'm still unsure of this building. It seems way to big, but at the same time it fits in. I'll probably end up keeping it from sheer laziness.

An overview of what I have so far. I was originally going to do only the duelers, but this area alone seems so small to do the original scenario justice, so I'm going to build the other two coasters in as well. If only there was a log flume...

Gorgeous.
Wanted to do exactly the same thing but waiting for the final game to get the real coaster and water.
I really hope there a Schwarzkopf looper is in the game, it was be sad not seing one of the most famous types of coaster ever not represented in the game.

And we wtill need wild mouses lol

Wow....[shocked]
I didn't expect that...I have to admit it...
Well done! [up][up][up]
Thanks!

Now we just need a wooden wild mouse, the mini coaster with lady bug cars, and a log flume :D
Yeah, it would make this project a lot easier.

Thanks for recreating this, it brings back a lot of fond memories. Can't believe how accurate you got the timings, great work!
Glad to know I could give you a bit of a nostalgia kick. The timings were more of a happy accident (I've never gotten the timings right before now).

A very nice recreation there. Congrats on a job well done
Thank you!

In retrospect, it probably would have been better to wait for at least water. I'm eagerly waiting to see a sign of a Schwarzkopf, there will probably be tons of coaster types we won't see until the final game.

awsome memories, great job at recreating so far ;) !
Thanks!

Dude, holy crap! This is AMAZING! Well freakin' done!
Thank you!

I finally got around to finishing Arachnophobia. This coaster just wouldn't cooperate, and ended up having some pacing issues. First it was perfectly paced through out the ride, and at the end went too slow (you can see it valleyed in the timelapse) and now it goes a bit too fast in the middle section, but it is able to make it through its course. I also got the station done, and a waterfront restaurant which I am still not completely happy with (it may change before the park is finished).
