diamondback explorer cargo limit

I see the ship is already heavy but i am unable to upgrade the cargo bays to their max limit...eg. From 3 to 4 as it says mass exceeded. This is despite the cargo bins, like the fuel bins weighing 0 tonnes.

Can somebody explain this please? Is it intentional or a glitch? I can see why it would be intentional if they are taking into account imagined cargo, but then shouldnt they do the same for fuel weight considerations?

I think I had a similar issue trying to get the right loudout in a T9. When I put lower grade parts (I can't remember if it was distributor or thrusters) I couldn't get the max cargo bay in.
I swapped back to all the E grade parts and then was able to get the cargo spec I wanted. Then I went back and fitted the main modules around that build.
Perhaps this is the same issue?

It has to do with thrusters... DIfferent thrusters have different max weight/mass. You can only increase max cargo if your thrusters can move the max laden mass.

Thats a shame... It would be a really versatile ship if you could max out the cargo bays

I think the problem lies with thinking that the compartment bays are cargo bays. You can indeed max out the cargo rack for a particular compartment. But, as this is an explorer ship, not a cargo ship, it isn't designed to have all compartments hold cargo.

I smuggle 52t(max with no shield's) a trip in mine. Just upgrade the thruster's as they're undersized for the hull being the exact same one's from the Db Scout which was much lighter.
