Diamondback Scout Review for Combat

Hey so can anyone provide a review for the diamondback scout in terms of combat? I'm thinking of buying one to grind conflict zones in eravate

If you've flown a Viper it's very similair except shields a bit weaker, more agile (you can throw it about more and turn quicker), better hardpoint placements and much better jump range. Works great with fixed weapons. Buy one you won't regret it.

Pretty much what Fireclown said, I took mine to a Military Strike(Powerplay "conflict zone") last night and had a blast... the ship is a little badass it can take a lot of damage before retreating(I dont use SCBs) and is really fun to fly.

Well, I was interdicting different ships in a Fer De Lance.

The Diamondback scout seemed extremly agile and hard to target.

I already bought one hooray. I seemed to notice that the shields of the cobra recharge faster compared to the diamondback. I use 2 fixed beam and 2 gimballed multi cannons

I am in my vulture right now buying a new ship.

Was planning to "upgrade" to a Fer De Lance, but I am thinking of getting one of the Diamondbacks instead for powerplay.

If I get the explorer I can finally go out there into the void :)

Btw, tell us how you like it once you have flown it a bit...

It flies great! Better maneuverability than the cobra but the shields are weak and slow to recharge. Also, i feel like my ship is made out of paper lol. Just a few laser shots from the NPC and i'm down to 80% hull

Knowing it won't help a lot, I freaking LOVE the Scout. Love the bloody ass off it!

edit: Her shields suck. You'll have to adapt and realise that if they go down, it's a fault of yours and yours alone.

I've had great fun fighting with it during a 5 hour session. It's a good ship, it's a Viper with no shields and more maneuverability. It turns and handles very well with good thrusters and has the same armament as a Viper.

No regrets buying it, highly enjoying it, it's a fun ship with a (in my opinion) better cockpit as well.

I was interdicted by a Scout this morning whilst staging with a Sidewinder, the Scout was nimble but creamed it no bother. This afternoon however I was in my A-class Asp when interdicted by an Explorer - again really manoeuvrable but seemed much much tougher than the Scout, it took a lot of punishment before exploding.

I used it in beta and puting 2 weapens on turrets you have an incredble firing arc

This is off topic. Do you guys know any guides on how to become a better fighter? Like maneuvering because I suck at that

I've been flying one since the update went live. Done several sorties into the 'roids. I have to say Frontier have done a stellar job with this little ship. It absolutely trounces anything from a Cobra down. Unfortunately, but while the Cobra has other advantages in multirole outfits, this ship makes the Viper somewhat useless, since it can more or less match the speed, and has similar agility to an Eagle with better hardpoint placement.

It basically flies and looks like a combat helicopter gunship from contemporary technology. I saw a couple in a wing with a Dropship and the three of them looked menacing flying together. I will say that against the bigger ships that know what they're doing, this one needs careful piloting because once they land shots on you, your shield will be your Achilles' heel. At that point I find a SCB and running away to hide behind a 'roid happens sooner than with the Viper or Cobra.

Make no mistake, regardless of the blurb, this is a tactical combat ship, not a "combat explorer". I think that's why they quickly rushed to change the moniker to Scout, and build the other sister ship variant as the "Explorer", after feedback. I haven't flown that one yet, although I may be buying it soon to compare. I think that one will also be good as a medium combat ship since it can punch harder against bigger ships with its large underslung hardpoint.

However, I doubt many people will want it for that as they could get a Vulture instead which maneouvres far better? So I think, at least for now, that the DB Scout, at half a million credits, will be the new go-to ship for combat pilots on their way to the Vulture. Me personally, since the Vulture and I don't get along, I can see me sticking to this Scout for a long time, mothballing my Viper, and re-equiping my Cobra for trading/scavenging.

get as low in mass asposible fit out your ships weapons and equipment first then arange your shield to the closest optimal mass do the same for power generators just enought to power your equipment (Generators are heavy) For thrusters get closest to optimal mass to powerfull and you have the same effect as oversteer and correcting takes time. To low and you ar like a truck slow to accelarate and to heavy to slowdown.
frameshift drives is up to you long range or shortrange

Keep all to closest to optimal mass and keep your mass as low as posible

Ps Some turrreted weapons dont hurt either for those nimble fighters

Can't say this answered his question although it is important info to keep in mind.

Although I can survive easily against NPC's I am not good at dogfights myself, but I know it all comes down to being able to outmaneuver your opponent while keeping your weapons trained on him more than he can keep his on you. The best way to maneuver your ship is to get good at flying with flight assist off. I suck at it, but it is one of my goals to get good at.
If I am to give any advice, I would suggest doing what I am doing: go on youtube and watch tutorials by other players on combat and FA off, like this video.

Good luck, Commander!
