For me it taught me patience and persistence. Patience in getting the required dough to get tooled up with Military Lasers etc and Persistence in keeping going each time I got totalled by the Thargoids in witchspace.
I also learnt, like many others, the economics side of things... Buy high, sell low etc... (That's right... isn't it????)

It taught me amazing bladder and bowel control , how to stay awake for 24 hours straight without getting tired , to go without food or water for 12 hours , The blue danube off by heart , how to get on with my brother (co-pilot) after a childhood of squabbling over things.
