Did everything become smoother?

Because I played with wingmates tonight. Besides the more than occasional crash, everything ran really nicely.

Your experience?

There are bunch of netcode tweaks in the patch. So I would assume it's smoother than 2.2. I haven't tested wings myself yet.

For me accesing the menus is faster than ever. No more delays when going to the main menu or using the station services.

Yeah, as I mentioned elsewhere I saw a marked improvement in supercruise exits last night, along with a generally snappier response from the servers when transacting things like mission lists. I don't want to count chickens just yet, because there's a small chance that this was because many players were still updating their clients and so not loading the servers as much as usual. But if this does turn out to be due to network optimisation then FD deserve many plaudits for addressing what has been a thorn in the side of ED for some time.

Even with my net playing silly today I noticed a marked improvement is speed in transitions etc. Caught me off guard a couple of times and almost flew into the sun!

My test session last night was also good, with shorter hyper transitions and almost seamless planetary approach. And the interdiction minigame worked bug free for the first time in 2½ years.
Ignoring the useless multi crew and holome, if this is indicative of a performance improvement - then this could well be one of the better patches.

Thanks all. I'd been away for a few weeks, so wasn't sure if I was just imagining things.

Yeah, definitely this. Another thing we noticed is how smoothly we were dropping into instances, as well as just a general smoothness to everything.

Was very pleased. Looking forward to exploring more of the update tonight.

Check graphics settings though. I had over 80 FPS more than usual and quickly realised they lowered a bunch of my settings :).

I see the little "snappiness" improvements in various places, but I got the same precipitous drop in frame rates that many others got in certain situations - for me, it's when entering stations. What do I see? Microstutter like you wouldn't believe. Note that I have an i7 6700K, GTX 1070 and 32GB RAM, and the microstutter is as bad as it ever was on my old box (i7 920 and GTX 770). I can't imagine what they've done here, it's brutal. Of course I also have the completely screwed up Galaxy and System maps, and I had the messed up mouse cursor (fixed by switching the cursor mode in Display settings).

All in all, a failed release that needs major patching before I try it again.

Ha - I'll check it out when I get back in :)

My FPS isn't through the roof anyways, since I'm running a fairly aged system.

That's interesting. I'm running something like 2.6 GHz Quad Core with memory/graphics capabilities that you would expect, and experienced almost no issues. A little stuttering in multicrew turret mode, but other than that everything was really nice.

Yeah, I noticed the faster transitions too, especially switching to planetary glide and dropping from SC near stations. The stuttering is gone, for me; I never dropped below 57 FPS. I have a GTX 980 Ti set to High graphics quality; if you're using a lesser graphics card, you might want to reduce some of your graphics options.

The framerate has noticeably improved, both max FPS and minimum framerates. Also, switching to galaxy and system maps and bringing up the main menu is much faster. It's a big improvement.

Unfortunately, the galaxy map is very hard to use; the system popups are mostly off-screen. It's hard to go anyplace I haven't already bookmarked. That's a major issue which has already been reported, so I expect it to be fixed in the next few days.
