I purchased ED from somewhere years ago, before the Horizons expansion, but now I can't find it in any library for any storefront that I use. Did Frontier ever sell the game directly? I can't find it in any section of my account section on the website.

yes they sold ED from their store at https://www.frontierstore.net/
this is also where your game account is held whether you purchased from fdev or physical copy, if you purchased via steam or epic the game must be linked here too

Another victim of the elitedangerous.com nonsense - I really don't understand why that website has (virtually) no link to the Frontier Store (frontierstore.net) - it is infuriating.
This was driving me mad the other day when I wanted to see if I could pre-order Odyssey via the Frontier store. I went round and round looking for that store link but couldn't find it anywhere. It was only when I went to my account page that I found the link for the Odyssey pre-order.
Seeing how difficult Frontier is making ordering the expansion via their own store - the splash page only mentions Steam + Epic + Playstation + Xbox stores - I am giving serious thought to getting a Steam or Epic key and relying on those platforms instead of the Frontier store. The difficulty of getting the game via Frontier makes me think they'd rather migrate people to those platforms anyway.
