Engineers Did nothing, just sit on planet and become Wanted.

I collecting resources in Deciat. I sit on planet while eating patatoes wife made for me. And surprisely 3 ships came down to surface and started to attack me.
I become WANTED.    ?

I've had a similar experience, thankfully it was only an Adder and I was able to get into the void fast enough to fight back. Shook me up a fair bit though as I wasn't expecting an attack just sitting on the ground.

most of the collect/deliver missions mention that you may get attacked by enemy ships.. but there are also some that send you to planet surfaces, with the warning that authority vessels may attack you as well. i remember that the federation stamped pretty hard on [read, blow you up for] onionhead smuggling some time ago, but i don't do that much smuggling, so not sure if similar states exist elsewhere, just for having certain items in your cargo hold.
