Another CMDR told me on the sub-r today that in his humble opinion "deep-core mining in a Corvette is not good". I beg to differ . . .



This is what approximately 4 hours work in a Corvette doing deep-core mining looks like:

Perfectly fine ship to mine with. If you want to move between hot spots and be able to travel some distance to sell at the best rates then you're going to need an FSD booster and a fuel scoop. You can do that if you drop down to 256 tons of cargo. Which is more than enough. Even the vette can achieve a decent jump rate with guardian tech. I prefer the Type 9 though. That cockpit man. It's so good for spotting asteroids. Clipper is awesome as well, good FOV and allows for quick mining sessions.

You can obviously core mine successfully in any ship, probably a VR user, then yes the Corvette is not great due to it's restricted view. I'd say 75% of the cores I spot are either below me or of at some weird angle far off in the distance, constantly looking around as I ping.

Corvette actually makes a decent freighter, hardly see any using it for that purpose though.

Used to have a Corvette to do local deliveries in. Take about 20 missions - Supply and Demand and then kill the multiple Deadly Ananconda's as they drop in for G5 mats. It can move a good quantity of cargo.

Went back to a T9 as the Corvette was too easy. Plus it carries a good bit more.

How do you find the opal selling spots? I can't find where to sell for that much its all a lot lower. My hunch is Sirius system but I don't have a permit lol

Right now good selling spots are keries/derricksons escape and malina/kooi resort. Almost 1.7mil for 1t opal.

I had found quator/quator station and szulskin mines but those are now ruined. Only 800.000 for 1t now.

I tried a t10, corvette and python as mining ship and i think i stick with the corvette. I like you can defend yourself, 3000mj shield and 2 huge MCs

Last mining session:
modus: open
time: 4h
cargo: 210t of opals, 46t of low temp diamonds
killed pirates PvE: 2
killed pirates PvP: 0 (1 tried to pirate me but no chance)
throwed away limpets: about 50
profit: 420mil

You can use Inara to find the most profitable place to sell your cargo or look for a specific state. It is AFAIK tourist economy/pirate attac/invest.

I still don't understand how people are finding enough of the good rocks to make that kind of cash. I'v followed the guides, gone to the hotspots in pristine ice rings, systems off the beaten path too. I find like 1 core rock per hour at best. Are not all pristine rings created equal? Most of the orange rocks are so useless I can't figure out why the PWS lit it up.

The core roids have only one shape. They also look in some way special when pinged with the wave scanner.

My experience tells me to look at core asteroids as a bonus, they are rare, the first time i went for core mining i found 2 cores in the first 20 minutes of play, lucky shot, since i have mined for about 10 hours and didn't find another. So i decided to see the hotspots as an area with better supply of that mineral, i went for a painite hotspot and prospected those ordinary asteroids and the glowing that showed up and i get good quantities o painite from the previous ones, didn't have much luck on the glowing ones, at the end and after i depleted all my limpets i have 114 t of painite and a profit of 45 mill.

I did like 25 million in my Keelie and selling the stuff for about 25 million at about half the going rate of the current goldmines... I haven't mined in a Vette or T9, but I have mined in a Keelie, C3, C4, Krait MKII, Phantom and T10... I like the smaller ships the best, the Keelie is my current favorite.

I personally think Corvette is the best large ship in nearly every aspect, less the view.

That being said, I'm currently in a Python. I don't have the time to fill up a whole Corvette during my alotted playtime, so shorter mining sprints are my go-to.

That said, Corvette makes a great pirate ship for low temp diamonds :)
