Did the Alliance use Thardoid tech for Chieftain?

From today's live stream (around the 18:00 mark) they turned up the audio so we could hear the thrusters, and my first thought was that the sounds are a lot like what we hear from the flower ships. Given the Alliance's history with the Thargoids, is it possible that they've rekindled their relationship? Is this just a case of the audio team using some of the same sound effects? Am I imagining things (equally, if not more likely, valid scenario)?

I don't see how they could have used Thargoid tech, but my first thought when I heard it was that it sounded quite Thargoid-like as well. Probably more likely that FDev created the Chieftain engine sounds from re-used Thargoid noises :p

It uses the same enhanced engines you can buy from the Thargoids after you get allied with them from fighting Guardians. That's all.

Did you notice those small engines? I think they are no engines at all. Is just a capsule for a baby thargoid, and the sounds are it's pain pushing the ship.
That's why is so good at turning, and makes those sounds.

No, because it doesn't look organic or like a barnacle.

but maybe there is a thargoid heart inside? Youc an't see whats under the hood.

So a thargoid chariot in space? Would be a typical fed move.

Small, yes, but FOURTEEN OF THEM at least (or rather 14 exhausts)

This is some R-type like stuff going on here.

The next AX weapon will be a pod in the front of your ship with an embryonic Thargoid inside, which is immune to damage and can protect you, and you launch it at the Thargoids to damage them.

Glad I am not the only one that picked up the sound similarities. I don't think Fdev did this by accident.....

I noticed it as well. Either way, it sounds nice and mean. :)

I went with Axelay, but I dig the reference. :D

Finally finished watching the stream today and I thought the boosters sounded less alien in the later clips, and I was sure that I had imagined the whole thing. I was sure that I would find this thread full of "get your ears checked mate" type responses, so its nice to know that I didn't imagine it!
