The system I'm messing about with seemed to keep its influence settings / faction states.

Is this a regular "nothing ticks on a Wednesday" thing?

After the Tick, which is approx. 14:30 UTC at the moment, you usually need to log out, shut down the game and restart to get the numbers to change in-game. Otherwise you're just looking at the cached values from when you first visited the system in that game session.

Right I logged in at 7pm yesterday, jumped out and in again and my friends reported the same.

Did you see the influence states change yesterday for other systems?

Yes, the systems I was interested in all changed yesterday afternoon.
If you (or other visitors) are uploading to EDSM you can see historical info for the system in Inara, https://elitebgs.app/ or similar. Does it generally appear to be changing ok? Maybe their happened to be no changes to the numbers for that particular system yesterday?

We've been playing the bgs, with tons of influence missions.
Something doesn't look like right.
We will check again today.
Then enter a bug report.

Looks like it ticked alright, Inara shows changes in influence between 22/23 Apr. Who were you supporting? If you were supporting Nu Simbad, that's not gonna change much... if you were supporting someone else, well, looks like Nu Simbad is well supported.

Certainly some changes in influence going on there over the last few ticks, all looks fairly normal.

Yes - near-enough everywhere either has at least one BGS-active player group looking to maintain the status quo, or a very high background traffic level relative to the NPC population naturally maintaining the status quo, or both.

The diplomatic context is generally more important than what happens in the BGS itself on a specific day in a specific system.
