I was away from the game for three weeks due to vacation. I had a Viper with mostly A modules and a couple D class modules to save power. While the fitting was a bit tight, there was some room left even after I deploy weapons. However, when I logged on today, I found out that I actually exceeded my power output after hardpoints are deployed. I have no been keeping a close eye on the patch notes in the past few weeks. What prompted the increase requirement for power output?
Did they increase the power requirement for modules?

Yep, D3 shield cell. I haven't changed it at all.
Shield Cells now use more power.
Also have you fired a laser yet and seen what happens.

Yepp, shield cells got nerfed, they are probably the source of your power problem.
