Did they reset past discoveries or add a zillion new systems?

Wasn't it supposed to work like that discovering and mapping were two different ways leave your mark on the galaxy map and since most places in the bubble were already discovered they would have only mapping left?

I was two jumps from Sol and fully discovered and mapped two separate systems with two earth likes each. So my question is that is there like a zillion new systems in the bubble or did all existing systems lose their discoveries?

Even revealed systems give a discovery-notice after honking, but already set "first discovery"-tags should not be overwritten.

~2700 hours and my discoveries are wiped? Seriously? Did that happen?

I got both the first discovered and first mapped for both systems. Some wa.. I mean honker got the star of the first system just before I returned the data but I got the rest. The second system called Maya was fully undiscovered until I discovered and mapped it including the star. At the same time I did see some systems with old discoveries so it all just seemed weird.
