Didn't an FDev post in here a while back claim the landable planet display would be fixed in 2.1?

Sorry, the lower-left HUD. When the planet is not landable the body type is displayed here. If it's landable we only see the landing meters. To get the body type for landable targets we must view the system map, which is a PITA for explorers.

Actually no.

If I remember correctly, the post from the devs was something like "That's fixed in 2.1" but was replying to a post that mentioned two problems, not one so you couldn't tell which was "fixed in 2.1". I think the other problem mentioned in the original post was the problem of the system map defaulting to a pointless tab and you having to click the info tab each time which has indeed been fixed in 2.1. Personally I thought that the least annoying of the two problems.

They need to fit both the old planet type info HUD and the new speed zone hub. I would crash into every planet without the blue zone indicator because my default speed is 100% throttle.

I would go even further though, and say that ALL of the planet info should be available in the HUD. From the atmospheric and chemical composition, to the semi-major axis. And everything in between. Maybe they'll eventually include this data at a science and engineering station for co-pilots, so I don't have to leave the ship's bridge to see my scan data :)

On the side note, I'm more interested in the graphical updates of planet surfaces.

Ziljan, have you made scientific observations/comparisons? :)

I'm aware the system map tab thing is on the FIXED list, but if it has been fixed in 2.1 then it hasn't been fixed very well. Every time I've opened the system map in beta it has been back on the Idiot Tab.

Edit: Thanks for answering the OP. I knew someone would remember that bit better than I did, and now that you mention it, it sounds familiar. Oh well, I had hoped.

Now planet surfaces look nicer, and surface performance is up (+5 FPS for me, which is enough improvement that I don't have to turn down the settings on planets anymore), I've just got to cross my fingers and hope that the huge hit to synth mat spawning will be reversed before release.
