Died On Foot with failed mission that gave me a fine, respawned in detention, how do I get back to my ship?

So I took a power restore mission that happened to include putting out fires. As soon as I walked into the compound two drops ships showed up and dropped mercenary's right on top of me. Got back to my ship, but just as I toggled to board I died. Respawned in detention after paying the fine for the failed mission. I guess I was sent to detention since I had a fine of 100K CR's when I died.

My ship was not at the detention center. Looked at the galaxy map and it was still on the planet where the failed mission was at. Did not want to take a shuttle there since I did not know what I would find when I got there and since it was not a regular base I didn't know once I was dropped off if I could get a return shuttle so I took a shuttle to a station where I had a stored ship. Got to the station, but the elevator would not take me to my stored ship.

At this point I just quit EDO and started EDH so I could get back into my ship that I was doing the mission in.

My question is should I have taken a shuttle to my ship that was still on the planet, once there would the ship still have been at the base where the failed mission was at?

You take a shuttle to any base that sells ships. When there you ask for the ship you were in to be transferred to that base. It will be ferried over and your back in business.

This appears to be the intended gameplay loop for when you end up in a detention centre in Odyssey....

This is the option that means you don't need to pay APEX, wait for them to take you somewhere with a shipyard, pay to have your ship transferred and wait for it to arrive....

I wouldn't want to advise which one you "should" be doing (in case it somehow gets classified as an exploit), but I know what I will be doing next time I end up in a detention centre.

How do you do that? I did not see any options with On Foot options that would let me transfer my ship.

You can go back to the planet you left your ship at, if it hasn't been destroyed you will be able to recall it from orbit.
The stored ship didn't show up at the elevator because it wasn't your active ship - it was in storage. Talk to an Inter Astra vendor to make a ship active.

Once you have your ship, go back and murder everyone for glorious revenge 🤣

Seriously though, if you're not yet kitted out to take on scavs then you can leave the base on foot and after a while when you call apex it'll rough land away from the base so you can board safely.

Its a time penalty, see; if you die on an anarchy system on foot you end up back in your ship in orbit, if you die with a 50 credit fine in a non anarchy system you end up in a detention center and have to take the space bus to a port where you can pay to have your ship returned to you, no option to have your ship transferred to the detention center . Imagine if you were speeding 3 miles over the limit and then put in the remand center after a full cavity search and obligatory wait in the waiting room. its horrible but the programmers who did the work on Apex have seniority over everyone so it wont get changed anytime soon.
