Difference between beta1 and beta2?

I'd be very very surprised if there was a reset after the Gamma launches. Resets prior to Gamma release should be expected as you signed up for testing. Anyone like me that only has Gamma access was expecting the full game, not to be a tester.

Gamma was sprung on us recently and I've absolutely no problem with it in theory but I have a massive problem if this now means that there is little point in accumulating any type of wealth or ships or upgrades if they're going to be taken away in x weeks/months.

Again, I want to play the game not test it and that is what I signed up for

Well, they said they don't want to do a wipe but circumstances may force them to... if you don't want to accept that then wait for the "proper" release - you have the choice!

I have no idea how the game is coming along but considering the alpha testing hasnt started surely the game will not be 'feature complete' for months yet - I would be very surprised to see these Beta dates remain fixed. I am fully expecting to not be able to play the game until well after summer but I will be very pleasantly surprised if I can play it in March.

I know what you mean. Very, very frustrating when you dedicate weeks or months into the game only to have it all wasted when a patch or upgrade renders previous save positions useless.

As long as they warn you that progress will be reset before a phase starts then that will at least save you time and frustration. May also allow us to experiment with different play styles in the game.

They managed to (soon) release the Alpha at the promised KS date, so really theres no reason to think at this point the Betas will be delayed. The Beta dates were set at the same time as the Alpha date.

I know a lot are saying that FD should take their time to make it right etc, but FD already know this. Considering they went above their KS target, and these estimated dates were set on the expectation of less money, now that they have more money, I wouldn't think the Beta dates will get delayed unless there are major core problems in Alpha.

Yes, testing is all about fixing problems, but no complex product such as this can ever be 100% bug free. At some point, they will have to say it good enough, and move to the next phase. After all, that's how they got to this Alpha stage. I'm sure if they had another 2 years, they could keep going adding more features, then release Alpha in Dec 2015
