Different cockpits?

Does anyone know what the deal is with your crew? Will they be responsive to orders, and react to emergency scenarios like take up gunnery positions? How interactive will the crew be?

This thread contains all the information on crews that I'm aware of. http://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8258 Others may be aware of threads that I've overlooked.

I would assume that you will be able to order crew to carry out the functions that fall within the ability for their type (i.e. tell the engineer which module to repair first etc...).

Thanks for the links guys, I'll check them out.

To me it would make a great addition to the game if it explores creating depth in crew inter-relationships, band of brothers type of thing... seeing your crew members progress up the elite rankings and knowing their strengths and weakness for example

In 'ethics and credits' (mission to protect/attack miners) its possible to fly up and hver directly outside an Anaconda's bridge and you can look right in there.
Its pretty funny the game is that detailed.

In one of the earlier Alphas I somehow managed to fly through an Anaconda's bridge. :)

The Anaconda's most definitely a bridge ... and ... it will be beautiful to be in there. :D
Despite how large that bridge is I expect that the majority of that will be behind you. You do need to pilot that thing and the only way that might work is if your viewing position would be as if you were a kid with his face pushed up against the glass! :D

The cockpits may be different to those with an Occulus Rift/track IR that can look around freely but I'm very curious to how it will look on the monitor up front.

Will every cockpit feature the 'classic Elite' look of the round radar dead center in the lower portion of the screen? ...will it sometimes be off centre? Different shapes? etc....
I wonder what will be different.

The two seaters such as the Cobra that we've seen glimpses of are interesting as well.
its a single player game so everything useful obviously has to be visible to the player sitting in one of the seats. What is the other seat for ?

what i'm wondering is will the ship internal/extenal sounds be different as well? my guess would be yes, but has it been said?
Kinda been hinted at. There will definitely be different soundsets.
From Meet the Team 10 - Jose Castro Sound Designer:
Jose Castro said:
...It is important to stress that both radio and HUD are real devices, so they can malfunction or be damaged, and replaced by better models with different capabilities (both) or sound sets (HUD). The pilot should have some degree of control over them, from within the ship’s interface –a volume slider, a sound HUD checklist to activate or deactivate types of data sonified...
