Horizons Different Srv's speculation

so i couldn't find another post, so i made a new one. idk what happends when this is a duplicate, but close it if it needs to be closed :).

so what kind of srv's would you like to seeing added into the game, and how would you expect them to work?
(also, if they would release in another season, (i do got horizons) do i need to pay for that season to get it?)


my idea: a heavy srv that would have the possibility of carrying cargo over a planet as well as medium combat (current in-game srv = light combat) as well as some nice little additional new things :3.
it would need to (probably) go trough a fighter bay-modified srv bay.
 
I'd love to have a small tank with a rocket launcher on top. Just something more durable than the current SRV, and with teeth :) . And also the heavy SRV you mentioned yourself. I think I have seen a concept art by FD depicting such a vehicle. Yes, some variety would be great.
 
SRV can only ever refer to a vehicle designed for recon. I'd like to see other types of surface vehicles (whether wheeled, tracked or levitating). Especially ones which look properly armoured and meant for combat.

I'd actually like a completely new loud-out screen just for vehicles your main ship can deploy, so that we can configure the internal/external modules, weapons and so on. What this game would gain a lot of good will from is anything which allows us customisation and it seems like this should be relatively easy to do.

A SRV with a respectable cargo space 12T maybe would allow hauler missions to other bases on the planet that don't have landing pads for ships. such missions would only be given to SRV drivers. Obviously SRV wouldn't be the right description for it, maybe LHV (light haulage vehicle) might be a better description. This would also allow recovery missions of more than one or two cargo cannisters. A bit slower and probably less manoeuvrable but slightly more heavily armed and with a bit more armour/shields.

The "digital art work" book, that was sent to alpha backers a while ago, shows a couple of designs for different SRVs - one which is definitely a big cargo carrier, another a better armed vehicle for assault or defence. So I should imagine they will be introduced at some stage, so long as they get the scanner working again first !
 
Biggest roadblock for surface vehicle variation is the cargo hatch size being universal across all ships right now. The SRV we have currently only fits into the hatch with it's wheels retracted, so either all future vehicles will need to have even more folding parts, be roughly the same size or we'll need to have new ships designed specifically for carrying larger vehicles in them.

Don't have a universal one then. A bigger hatch would work for a bigger SRV (LHV) and can only be fitted on bigger ships than a Sidewinder (size 3 or so).

That sounds easy enough but it would mean redesigning ships so that they can have physically larger cargo hatches on their models. That's not likely to happen unless FDev already had plans to turn some ships into larger cargo bays like they designed the Keelback to have fighter bays before they'd implemented them

yes, thats why i mentioned the fighter bays. the only thing they need to do is make a plan for the entire ship to levitate (so the MASSIVE rover can deploy underneath it) and (possibbly, as they could already use the current animation) redisighn the deploying animation
