Sorry guys and gals, but I am tired and headed to bed, don't have time to read through all the threads to see if this has been noticed.
I was farming Thargoid data earlier, and had 3-4 regular encounters, drop into USS, 'goid turns, scans, and returns to its business.
Then all the sudden I had 2-3 encounters (before I found the correlation) where it would turn towards me and then after the scan would "tighten" up its arms, and stare at me. No coloration, just grey/silverish, it would hang out for a while maybe 20 secs, then turn away. This happened a total 7 out of 7 times.
During one of the original encounters, I got bold, while the Thargoid was scooping up a body, I grabbed a meta-alloy floating nearby.As long as it was in my hold, they just had this weird look. It reminds me of holding a treat for a trained dog. It will just sit there and stare at you, almost disappointed it goes away.
Second observation, it the majority of cases, it heads back to where I found it, but does no more scanning/collecting of debris, it just pops into hyperspace. (unlike before having the meta alloy when they would continue what was going on before I interrupted.
My standard reaction is to drop into USS, all stop, target as it approaches, deploy scanner, as it approaches i go full reverse, once in range we scan each other, then staring contest, then it turns, at 2-3km away i halt reverse, and start to pursue leaving between 4-5km between us. Then I scan wake, and go to next USS.
Not sure if you all trained it last week by feeding it stuff from your hold but.....
