Dinos New & Old

Hi all, new to the forums, but certainly not new to this game - in the sense that I've been following it where I can. I've always enjoyed these style of games, having played the Rollercoster Tycoon Trilogy, Zoo Tycoon 1 & 2, Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, and more recently, Planet Coaster.

If anything I ask has already been answered elsewhere, then I apologise in advance for not having seen in. I've been looking at the Dinosaur releases thus far, and for the most part, they all (seem) to make sense, because they've all appeared in one of the films (or will do with Fallen Kingdom), though I don't remember ever seeing the following:

  • Corythosaurus
  • Tsintaosaurus
  • Kentrosaurus
  • Metriacanthosaurus (there's a similarity between this an the Allosaurus I think?)
  • Edmontosaurus
  • Chasmosaurus

Do all these Dinosaurs (in one film or more) make an appearance, or are some of them merely added as developer favourites? I ask as the only Dinosaur (to date) that we do know exists (on an island) that isn't (yet) in the game is the Carnotaurus... Also, considering the nature of Jurassic World (in that avian and aquatic Dinosaurs are present) this game doesn't (yet?) appear to have any? I can imagine there will be DLC packs, but does anyone know whether that's the intended way of them implementing the Avian and Aquatic stuff (in addition to various Hybrids) or whether the Avian & Aquatic stuff just isn't going to be a part of this game?

Many thanks.

Every movie dinosaur will be in the game except for Compsognathus (to little) and the avian and aquatic species but those might be added later through dlc.
Frontier got some freedom to add a few species that have never appeared in the movies or books.
Also the Carnotaurus will be in the game but not at launch but through a free Fallen Kingdom dlc a little later.

Seeing that you have also Planet Coaster, you are familiar with Frontier and I'm pretty sure they will bring us various dlc's in the future and game updates just like they did with Planet Coaster.

To add to Lora Craft69's (EDIT: and Mr Goodbytes') post, Corythosaurus appeared in JP3, Metriacanthosaurus had an exhibit in the original JP (seen from the map brochures) as well as on the JW website as an attraction, and Edmontosaurus was also featured on the JW website.

Corythosaurus was in JP3 and the rest are completely original. By that I mean they were not featured in the movies or even the books.

Well TECHNICALLY speaking an Edmontosaurus skull is shown in the Rex den in the Lost World, but that's not exactly a movie appearance haha. (and yes, I did rip that off of the wiki because I could have sworn it was mentioned at least somewhere in the original novels, I was wrong lol).

As gingeyphillips has noted, Edmontosaurus and Metriacanthosaurus were both among the dinosaurs in JW, even if they were never seen onscreen. Ditto Suchomimus (who was not on the OP's list, although Suchomimus was mentioned by name in JPIII).

It would seem as though there's a few scenes I wasn't paying quite enough attention too.. Heh. Thanks for the feedback though! [cool]
