Dinosaur behavior feedback JWE2

Hello frontier,

I play and love JWE2 and I was excited for the new behavior animations of the dinosaurs.

I think there are good animations, but there are to less and many dinosaurs, ahead the harbivores, have to many same animations. Most of the time, the dinosaurs are just slowly walking. To be honest, its to boring for longer time. And i'm missing the animations from JWE1, when the harbivores stays in circles and roaring together.

My idea for the behavior animation is, that same dinosaurs type (example t rex & giganotosaurus) have 5 same random animations (fighting & running together, hug each other etc.) And every dino has 2 signature animations (example brachiosaurus stands on its back legs and roars, like in JP1)

The behavior animation should more interact with the area, for example the dinos playing in the water, interact with the guest on the windows, tackle against trees and stones.

Interact more between different species.

I dont see any behavior animations by the marine and air reptiles. That is really dissapointing for me. I hope they are coming in the future

The dinos should do more sounds and roars.

Maybe the dinos could get toys like balls or puppets to interact with.

If you could release the discripted animations and its quantity, I would pay for it in a DLC.

Thats it for the bahaviors frontier.
Greetings from germany.

I was gonna make a separate thread but since this one already exists I'm gonna bump it.

I'd love to see the marine reptiles spy hopping and breaching as a form of playful social interaction, at least with the pliosaurs, icythosaurs, and mosasaurids (as I can't imagine with their long stiff necks that the plesiosaurids could breach or spy hop)

Something more akin to this than Great White sharks

Or even like the Ophthalmosaurus in the Cruel Sea episode of Walking With Dinosaurs (which I can't find a video of)

I agree with BestInSlot and BestInSlot agrees with the player base, the Dilos shouldn't be pack hunters. Neither should the Proceratosaurus. It just doesn't look right. In the movies the Dilos spit venom. This is not something a pack hunter would do. Everything the dilo does suggest it's not a pack hunter but a lone wolf style hunter that works alone and uses its ability to spit venom to take down prey.

Both the Dilo and Proceratosaurus are way too small to be seen as real dangerous pack hunters. I don't know much about the behavior of the real animals. But it doesn't look quite right. Especially when they attack larger herbivores and even carnivores. I can see the raptors doing it because it happens in the movies. In real life they were a lot smaller and probably didn't hunt in packs. But the raptors in the movies and books are not based on the real animal.

The Deinonychus pack hunting is ok cause it has a strong build like the raptors. The Dilos and Proceratosaurus just look way too small and frail to be seen as pack hunters. If they Proceratosaurus was going to pack hunt I would say it would go after the smaller dinosaurs. Like a Struthi or something like that. Maybe they could pack hunt a goat or something. Unless there is some evidence saying they engage in pack hunting in actual reality. I would say either tone it down some just stop it all together.

Anyone else feel the same way?

I agree that it seems weird that Dilophosaurus and Proceratosaurus are pack hunters in the game now. But even animals that normally do not pack hunt will on occasion gather in larger groups to take down a big animal.

So what might be an interesting middle ground, is to drastically increase the required numbers needed to hunt for those species. So that their "pack hunting" behaviour becomes much more rare. Because it seems like a bit of a waste to remove such an interesting game mechanic. That way these animals will normally just only hunt animals one on one, and only when there's a whole load of them would they start to pack hunt. And maybe even then they should not be allowed to hunt the large sauropods. Because it does look a bit weird.

The dinos should do more sounds and roars.
No. Dinosaurs like the T. rex already roar all the time. Literally every time I stop to look at the T. rex it does at least one roar.
Animals don't roar that often. And making them roar all the time will just make them feel fake and the roars will become annoying.

I absolutly agree frontier advertised the behaviour so much and still there is so much copy and paste and way to less behaviour the dinos have one social animation one idle animation and thats it thats not behaviour in any way and the marina reptiles are jwe1 dinos all over again they do nothing they just swim in circles thats it frontier is just a lazy developer they didnt even bother giving them some animations they thought just give the people marine reptiles and that should be enough they are so boring same for the flying dinos they just sit and from time to time fly to the feeder.
So frontier where is all that behaviour u hyped up? This game is jwe 1.5 nothing more nothing less...for that price tag i really expected more

The funny thing is that most "evidence" (if you can call it that) for pack hunting exists in allosauroids and tyrannosauroids, less in raptors. In fact, there's new studies that claim the exact opposite - that raptors were lone hunters. Their teeth growth stages suggest a dietary change from juvenile to adulthood and that's usually a sign of lone hunters.

But in any case, accuracy to the films is a first, then comes paleo accuracy.

^ I’d argue that it’s likely many predatory dinosaurs hunted in family groups with parents and offspring, while the larger subadults would engage in cooperative hunting like what happened in Big Al whenever taking on larger prey.

I don't agree. Dinosaurs are such an extremely diverse group of animals and they had all the niches that mammals have today and if you think about how long they had them compared to todays animals, you can only imagine the sheer amount of behavioural differences between the species. Just look at modern dinosaurs

I enjoy what they did so far I just hope they add and work on behaviors and animations going forward as JWE2 is a start, for example herbivores will be laying down and a carnivore will just walk right by it, when in reality it would take advantage of the situation and bite it or slash at it while its defenseless. I would love to see more randomness with the behaviors and animations, it would make the Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Reptiles more fun to watch and more lifelike!
