Dinosaur Size Feedback (Post-Stream)

Thank you so much for this, although I am still very concerned with the authenticity of their sizes in regards to both their real world size and their canonical size.

Ceratosaurus: The size change here seems alright. In the movie the brief glimpse we got of it didn't make it look huge so I can honestly say I'm happy with this one, although I think it was already a perfect size.

Giganotosaurus: This guy is WAY too big. The Giga was roughly the size of a Tyrannosaur give or take a few inches. It honestly needed to be scaled up, but tot to the extend he has been.

Tyrannosaurus: I don't get this one. The Tyrannosaurus I thought was a really good size and could've been scaled up a little bit.

Spinosaurus: The Spinosaurus was the largest Theropod dinosaur in existence. That means larger than the Tyrannosaurus as well as the Giganotosaurus. In the movie canon this was better reflected and honestly it needs to be scaled up a bit more. Make it larger than all other Theropod dinosaurs please.

Dinosaurs I would've liked to see changed:

Indominus Rex: This one has always seemed a bit puny to me. I always thought the Indominus should've been slightly bigger than the Tyrannosaur considering in the movie it was the size of a Rex while not full grown.

I absolutely hate to come off as negative, as I am insanely grateful we are getting size changes at all considering the trouble you guys have gone through to make sure everything stays functional on the technical side, but I feel like their sizes need further changes.

Here is a size chart of their real-world counterparts. I'd recommend taking a look but please do not make their size differences as drastic as these. This is purely a scientific reference.

Thanks for all your work on this game. Ever since Operation Genesis I've wanted a newer updated version and you guys have delivered. Thank you so much. <3

Agreed, Frontier said that they would only upscale the Giganotosaurus to 13.5 meters long, which is the same length as the new T-rex, but if we are to assume that the dinosaurs are all indeed scaled to size compared to each other in that picture, then the new Giganotosaurus must be at least 16 meters long as it easly surpasses the new T-rex AND the new Spinosaurus in length! It's kind of ridiculously big right now.

I'm happy with this news sizes, now i want to see this in game. Can somone make a good cmparison chart ? or i'll do it

No just no. They aren't gonna waste time refining and I've already seen the picture of the dinosaur sizes that will be in game. They look completely fine.

T. Rex and Giga are 13.5 meters, and Spinosaurus 15m. The picture they have reflects that, there's no need to change it.

No it doesn't. The new Giganotosaurus is at least 16 meters are it's longer than both the new T-rex and the new Spinosaurus. It's now considerably bigger than it was in real life.

Just did a quick size comparison between the new Giganotosaurus and the new T-rex, and it's indeed a lot longer and appears to be at least 16 meters long rather than the expected 13.5 meters. This also confirmed my suspicions that the legs on the Giga model are a bit too short and stubby, as the T-rex still appears to be taller despite being much shorter in length.

Excellent, much more detailed and cleaner than what I did. I think the reason why Frontier decided to make the Giga so long is because they realized what I've already suspected about the Giga model for a while now, which is that the legs on the Giga model are too short, so even when you put it at the same length as the T-rex, it would still look rather unimpressive as the T-rex would still tower over the Giga due to it being proportionally taller.

However, I would like to add that if the picture that they showed us is to be believed in ANY way, then these may actually indeed be the true sizes of the dinosaurs after the update. If we use the picture that I posted above and compare the old Giga(12m) with the new Giga(supposedly 13.5m), there is easily more than a 1.5 meter difference in length. However, if we compare the new T-rex(13.5m) with the old Giga, there actually appears to be a believable 1.5 meter difference. So it appears that the dinosaurs may in fact be scaled correctly to each other. I believe it's quite possible that Frontier isn't actually inflating the size of the new Giganotosaurus and that this may indeed be its true new size at around 15.5 to 16 meters.

Nobody even believed they would change it in the first place, probably did it due to the way the model was as the person above said.

we aren't shooting for exact accuracy here its jurassic park, and we all wanted the spino and giga larger or same size as the rex. good enough for me, I doubt they are going to change it again. not only we have no idea what it looks in-game yet.

Fictional hybrid dinos don't matter to me. For the others the size can vary enough that it didn't really matter to me either. Kind of a shame so many people got worked up over it on Reddit, it seems. Still isn't going to make everyone happy, but at least they're trying to do what they can.

I don't think the Giga will look much bigger than the Rex, right now the in-game Giga is almost 3 metres longer than Cerato but they look around the same size

Possibly, especially since the T-rex is still taller and Giga has a proportionally longer tail which makes up more of its length.

Honestly, I'd be kind of okay with it if this is indeed the new size after looking at further comparisons. I'd rather have the Giganotosaurus be as big as it is in the first picture than in the second.

Personally, I think it'd be a bit better if they upscaled T-rex back to its original length of 14 meters, and upscaled the Spinosaurus to the full 16 meters. This would make for more balanced sizes in my opinion.

Just as a curiosity, does anyone think the suchomimus should be scaled up a bit? I feel that the sucho is a bit tiny. It looks tiny in comparison to the Baryonx.

I would like them to scale the Dilophosaurus although they should make that optional since the movie canon might possibly not allow that.

I do not finish understanding the length of Giga. It should have the same length as T-Rex (13.5m) as Frontier said and yet it seems much longer. Nor do I complain that I could get to 14m doing it a bit longer than T-Rex, but 16m seems like an exaggeration.

On the height, it seems to me good that T-Rex is a little higher. In real life, Tyrannosaurus was a little taller and more voluminous than Giga. However a little higher, not much higher as I saw in the second image of size comparison.

It would have been nice if Frontier showed us the size changes ingame instead of silhouettes that do not solve anything.

Two weeks, September 13 .. we'll know. I don't think we can expect them to change sizes AGAIN in the next 14 days but (personal opinion time) I don't think it'll matter, this chart (thanks to Beydhi) totally works for me ..

T-Rex can't be truly heroic until she has some real competition for dominance imho.

so the baryonyx is bigger than sucho too? I guess they really did just size up whatever predator was featured in the movie. eh, what can you do I guess.

exactly all this. That is the chart I saw on steam yesterday and it looked perfect to me.
