Dinosaurs No Longer Attack Jeeps

Hi there!
My daughter is a long time player of the game and absolutely loves it! She was very excited when on the last update, jeeps (rangers) would now be attacked by dinosaurs. I guess while other people found this annoying, she thinks its cool. She loves to play sandbox, drive a jeep up to an aggressive dinosaur and taunt until he destroys the jeep.
Anyway, so the other day, she keeps telling me that the jeeps are no longer being attacked. I tried it myself and lo and behold, she's right. I thought maybe it was because of an app update, but that doesn't seem to be the case either. I also double checked the sandbox settings and the ranger aggression is on. Any ideas from anyone?

She's been bugging me to fix it constantly for the last couple days. That's the trouble with being a software engineer. She doesn't understand that I can't get into the code and fix it myself.

Would love it if anyone knew how to fix. Maybe we're missing something.

Thanks!!!

Hey there!

I play the game on PS4 but I could give my experience when dinosaurs would fight.
Usually, if the jeep gets attacked, it would be one dinosaur at a time, so in an exhibit of 20 dinosaurs, only 1 would technically be sent out to attack the ranger vehicle if provoked.

These are my observations:
• The dilophosaurus, troodon, proceratosaurus, compsognathus are the only carnivores I experienced that are docile to the ranger vehicle.
• All docile non-combative herbivores are docile to the ranger vehicle. So sauropods, hadrosaurs, ornithomimidae, and small herbivores besides the pachycephalosaur family won't attack the ranger vehicle.
• The iguonodon is the most tolerable dinosaur in my experience. You could be in the same enclosure for long minutes before they decide to kick your vehicle.
• The armored herbivores like the ankylosaurs, ceratopsids, and stegosaurs are less tolerable and would get agitated and hit the ranger vehicle. The stygymoloch, pachycephalosaurus, and dracorex are also equally aggressive.
• Small carnivores are less tolerable than the armored herbivores and would chase the vehicle and ram them.
• Large carnivores are the least tolerable and would pursue the ranger vehicle the quickest.

Now here is what I also experience, the dinosaurs are not always consistent with their attacks. So I experienced a triceratops that is more aggressive in one challenge mode game, and the next game would have the velociraptor be the more aggressive dinosaur. So there is an element of luck in the game and sometimes the dinosaurs won't even bother attacking the ranger vehicle.

But I will say, darting the dinosaurs would make them panic above being aggressive. I would dart a T-rex trying to provoke it to attack but would see it just running around getting away from me more than chasing me. So I guess honking your horn would be the best way to aggravate your dinosaurs.

Hey thanks for your quick and thorough response. I'll have to spend some time with it and see what I can find out. I do know we already tried to biggest most aggressive dinosaurs and they ignored the jeeps. My daughter also mentioned something about the health or damage indicator for the jeep now missing. I wasn't sure if there even was a such thing? (I don't really play the game much myself).

Hi!

Maybe you have to check the sandbox settings. There is something like dinosaur aggression and/or jeep destructibility. This is always turned off when you start a new sandbox.
(this is in the pause menu)

Hopefully this helps :)

This makes the most sense as it does do that if you select sandbox in creative mode. Creative mode has multiple options turned on that makes dinosaurs really tame.
