Although not going to have anything to do with the E D galaxy model, there is now some assertion that a region devoid of galaxies is exerting a "pushing" force that helps propel the milky way galaxy through the universe. This is supposed to be in addition to the "Shapley Attractor", a dense supercluster that is drawing our galaxy towards it. If you like your astronomy / cosmology raw, have a read:
